Mama's on board. CB time. She's gonna love that free airfare. Hopefully she flies into Midway and her return flight gets pushed back a day so she can do some shopping on Michigan Ave and enjoy her stay at the W.

I didn't realize until you posted, that we didn't have an offer out.

That's comical. Gotta go grab low hanging fruit like this.

Especially when its a top 10 DT, which are incredibly hard for us to recruit.

He's actually up to #5 at 247 and #8 in the composite. Not joking when I say we could get 2 top 10 DT's in this class. At which point, I'd do a happy dance.

Hopefully it's one of those, we want to offer while your on campus, technicalities.

I stayed at the W by the house of blues on a work trip once. Fantastic! One of the best hotels I've ever been to!

From a reliable source over on ISD about these situations IN GENERAL, ND is probably just making sure all of the ducks in a row for this kid. Confirming that he's a RKG and making sure that his grades/test scores are remotely close. It will come at some point boyos. Relax.

What could possibly explain no offer yet? Academic questions?

Maybe he just isn't that good. His film is so-so at DT. He might have a better career on the offensive side of the ball as a fullback or H-back. He is definitely athletic for a big guy, but he there is a lot of work on his game.

He didn't have a great showing at Army Combine last weekend either.

Hoping that it is just that its still early in the cycle and the staff is busy closing out this year than what your stating here:

I mean its not like we are ever gonna be at 85 scholarship players anyway, just offer the kid.

I'm calmer than you are.... lol.

If they were to offer, then evaluating whether a top 10 DT is a good fit should probably happen sooner than January. This is low hanging fruit at a position we struggle to recruit consistently. If someone were to criticize our staff's process with him, it would be a totally rational thing to do.

Hell... I would take him at fullback too. Bottom line, a big athletic dude that is a fan of the university is sitting out there with no offer. It's January... Even though every single recruiting site has him as a top 10 DT, lets for the sake of debate say that he's only half that good. He would be a top 20 DT with offers from Bama, Florida St, Clemson, OSU and Florida. Are we really acting like our DT depth and talent is too deep to want a kid like that? Especially a kid who's family loves the school?

What bizarro world am I in right now? lol

Doesn't fit the BVG scheme. Too fast for a coverage DT.

He fits my scheme of running over people on the way to the end zone. Been a while since we had a bruiser like this, but many of the best Irish teams I remember had an ass-kicker in the backfield. Bullock, Edwards, Bettis -- who else?

Mine too. If only a project at FB or DT, he's still crazy athletic and should be a take regardless.

He grew up in a family of Irish Fans and DT is a need in this class. I don't understand why we haven't offered yet? I thought we would take 2 DT's this class?

They are going to take at least 2. They probably want a Jaron Jones / Terry Jillery sized DT to go along with the Sheldon Day sized Haskell first. Someone like Breyon Gaddy. I'd take all 3 of them yesterday.

But it could be a few things right now. You have to ask is it books or test scores first. He doesn't have a Duke, Vandy or WF offer but has every state school in the mid east offering. Is that a sign? Next is the possible size issue. He's in the 6-2 vicinity, maybe closer to 6-1. Haskell Garret from Bishop Gorman is in the 6-2 range. ND may only want one small DT or at this time are only willing to offer one because it seems like if they offered both they'd have a very good chance of getting both. Lastly, they may not like his productivity as a DT enough to offer. His DT tape isn't 10 minutes of him destroying lineman, QB's and RB's. It just shows a freakishly good athlete for his size playing on both sides of the ball. What you can't deny is this guy is an athletic, versatile football player. If you've got the room, guys like this are great to have on the sideline until their postion works itself out.

One thing I did notice this morning since posting his list is was he and Loy started following each other this week. Recruiting analyst Twitter follows are good indicators of recruitment activity.

Maybe something is in the works?
