Should receive an offer on name and hair alone.

Brother of former Stanford DE, Trent Murphy.

"Overall, I'm looking for a school that I can first and most importantly exceed academically," he said. "Secondly, the program has to be together as a family so I know I can go to war with those guys. And, third, I'm looking for how the program will set me up for my future and will it help me strive to be at my fullest potential."

Big brother Trent, now playing for the Washington Redskins, gives sound advice.

"Just go wherever I want to go, keep a real positive attitude about everything and to most importantly take it one day at a time, and worry about what's happening now and not what's in the future," Connor said.

After reading that I ask, why doesn't he verbal to the Irish and wait for the offer? lol

In all seriousness, you'd think Stanford has the inside track but based on what he said, ND is all alone in second.

You have to assume that he's Stanford's to lose. Hopefully they do just that.

Anybody know the story of his brother and Notre Dame? Did we recruit him?

No, never offered and it was essentially Stanford/ASU. Also, had offers from Arz., Colorado, and Utah.

Brophy sends many students to ND (many alumni in Phoenix), but for some reason the football players have not followed suit.

I believe the last Brophy football player to go to ND was walk-on long snapper JJ Jansen.

With his brother advising to go where ever he wants to go, we could be a real player here if he gets offered.

Can't let a ginger with the name Murphy slip away. Kid is gigantic already, scary how big he can get. My biggest concern with kids this tall is leverage and pad level.

Had it not been for him being a world class hurdler and track being as important as football, many around the valley think he would have gone to ND.

With his brother advising to go where ever he wants to go, we could be a real player here if he gets offered.

His brother was the last of the under the radar players, especially from a big market. The recruiting industry just didn't get how good he was. I'm not sure that happens anymore at a program that is of Brophy's caliber. Brophy is basically the Bishop Gorman of AZ. The teams that Trent played on were in the same category as the OC Trinity League teams here in California. Brophy basically owns a 4.5m metro area when it comes to Catholic football recruiting. Now, public schools like Scottsdale Chaparral and Saguaro, Chandler and Chandler Hamilton, Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe recruit like most private schools do but when Brophy is rolling the only thing that holds them back is the distance a player lives from their downtown campus.

I haven't seen Conner play other than parts of the Bishop Gorman game last season. I'll get out to see them when they play Chaparral or Saguaro this year in Scottsdale.

After looking at his 6-7, 290lb Dad and his 6-7 290lb NFL brother, knowing his Mom made him go to mass every Sunday and drove her kids 25-35 miles through REAL traffic so that they could have the best, Catholic education available in AZ, it's easy to see this is a potential RKG (if he's not there quite yet on film) Something also tells me Mom would be very receptive to CBK paying a visit... after all, does she really wanna send another kid to atheist u. Me thinks Mom verbals at CBK's home visit.

They totally missed on Trent, don't make the same mistake twice... get on him Coach not Stanford!

I don't, we never seemed to push too hard for him. Solid prospect, IMO.

Just not a very impressive player physically right now. I think he could end pretty good down the line, but not an immediate impact guy that ND needs.

But if rumors are true and he was very interested in Notre Dame, he would have been a smarter roster play than taking 2 lower rated (one a complete project) DE's from Michigan.

Everything points to him being a real solid player at the next level.

And admit it.... Connor friggin' Murphy belongs at ND!

I guess the next logical step for Harbaugh is to employ his father and mother. Maybe make them Co-Presidents of UM while Connor is enrolled.

Jim Harbaugh has a recruiting advantage with Connor.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh recruiting player he once babysat - MaxPreps

Video link

Maybe that's why Harbaugh's third DE commitment, Rashad Weaver, a 2*, is taking other OVs. Weaver, an unranked recruit, made his commitment in June. His offer list is mainly mid-major FBS schools.

Unfortunately, that's kind of how Harbaugh operates. Did the same thing at Stanford.

And you probably won't hear anybody say a thing about it so long as he wins.

Yep. D-line recruiting was a MESS at the beginning of the year, and ND's coaches worked hard, got lucky and ended up digging themselves out of it.

I tend to doubt they passed over a kid with his measurables and offers because of their evaluation. That sounds very unlikely to me. He is not unimpressive physically, he's 6'7" 255.

I mean, Ogundeji has a higher ceiling than Murphy. After watching Okwara's senior film, he is by far more impressive than Murphy.

Guys at the The Opening didn't really even have to try to block Murphy. Part of it is he is definitely catching up with his body, but he left a lot of be desired all the way around.

He might turn out to be a good player, but I will be surprised if he does

Reminds me of not take Tommy Schutt or Brendan Austin. It may make sense if you are loaded, not if you are building depth.
