Wish Oklahoma had played Bama in the first round, they would've gotten demolished. They're a horrible matchup for Bama this year, but I think they match up pretty good with MSU and Clemson. The style contrast between the four teams is quite interesting.

I don't know, I think this OU team si very similar to the team that smacked Bama a few years ago in th sugar bowl. They have an elite pass rush this year and aren't too bad (3.6 ypc) against the run. I actually like them going up against Clemson and giving Deshaun trouble. OU is my pick to win it this year.

Pretty sure that was more about Bama not showing up to play than anything else.

Distance doesn't seem to be a factor. Academics ND trumps OU, I think he would see the field sooner at ND, it comes down to how comfortable he is at OU vs. ND.

Thank you for blessing us with your knowledge daily. This recruitment reminds me of Ferns there are a lot of people who think Kelly is really overrated. None of the Cali schools seem to want him and never did and he says he hasn't talked to Michigan in a while. Seems like OU is only school who really wants him.

I am really interested to under stand why anyone would cool on the #2 LB in California.

I just watched his junior highlights and I gotta say, I just don't see it. As in, I just don't see who the **** would think this kid's overrated.

Relative to all the 5 star hype, I do, but he's still a damn good prospect. I don't view him as a 5 but still really want him. I think 247 has it right on this one.

I agree. I think he's real good but not a 5 star.

Agreed with what you said, I think Oklahoma is the real leader here and he will go there and be comfortable with his guys. If we had him on campus this summer I think ND might be running neck and neck.

That's why it's a highlight tape man, which highlight tape have you watched that wasn't good?

Brendan Ferns immediately comes to mind, he plays very little LB. Damian Alloway's junior tape had a lot of TDs, but I wasn't impressed with his top end speed at all. Jamir Jones' junior highlight tape was woefully unimpressive. Brandon Tiassum's did absolutely nothing for me. Those are just off the top of my head.

Honestly I can't ever watch Brandon Tiassums highlight tape. I mean this with absolutely zero disrespect but I have no idea how he is on this roster. It seems like ND fans usually question a committ every year by Kelly and they somehow are usually right with them.

Yeah that was the all time worst tape I've seen from one of our commits. He looked slow and unimpressive against really really bad competition. Now watch him turn into Vince Wilfork.

I don't think his was that bad honestly. Just my opinion. There were a number of commits in BK's earlier classes (and definitely in the Tyrone era as well) that were definitely more unimpressive to me. One that I won't forget watching and and simply feeling no optimism for his potential was John Turner, which is a shame because he has size and speed and by all accounts is a great kid.

Also disagree with your Jamir Jones opinion. Look at the recent highlight in his thread. We can agree to disagree, but I think there is definitely something to work with there and potential to play a role on a good ND team.

I'm all on board with Jamir Jones now, but his junior year he was sub-200 lbs. and playing mostly QB against bad competition. This offseason he added a ton of muscle (I think at least 30 lbs. if I'm not mistaken). I can't remember if we offered him before or after he bulked up, but if it was before then hats off to the staff for seeing what he could turn into. He looks like he could be a big time player for us down the line.

This kid is a great athlete. When the staff puts him in his spot I think he will excel. He's got a fierce motor...not worried about him at all.

Per Steve Hare on Scout, apparently Caleb was asking questions to the coaches on the visit about Hayes and where he would play, basically asking if he and Hayes would be competing head to head for a position.

It's a very good question. I wonder what answer he got.

It's got to be hard not to just tell the kid what he wants to hear. It's probably best to paint the picture of how dominant they will be together in two years.

I don't see Hayes as a OLB. Isnt the consensus he might grow out into a DE?

ND told him he could play all 3 LB spots. Wouldn't be locked into one behind anyone. Depended on need / fit / etc.

Urban Meyer takes a different approach to these questions; he would have just said that Hayes is coming in to play QB ;)
