Draft Kings and Fan Duel
And does anyone know what strings are attached to their matching initial deposit promises? Someone suggested you are credited 5% of all bets which seems ridiculously low.
They will "match" up to $200, and yes, every time you make a bet, 5% is released into your total. It is genius on their part, and keeps people around way longer than they would have liked, making it impossible to blow your load and call it a day.
I've been using FD for the last month. It is wildly addicting, and takes a very solid effort to win. I started an account to do CFB and NFL, but quickly have added NBA and NHL to my repertoire. I put $200 in, and after about 50 or so tourneys ranging from $1 to $5 am at $175. The most I won in one tourney was $25, and most lost in one was $5. I mostly do $5 ones, but some of the $1-2 ones with huge pots are fun.
You either have to be an MIT level stat geek who does DFS as a job to win the big ones, or catch lightning in a bottle to finish just below those guys. Many players will enter thousands of entries into uncapped tourneys, and the average Joe literally has no chance of ever winning the top prize.
The best chance a person like us has to turn a profit on FD is to enter numerous 50-50 tourneys, where the odds of winning are high, but the payout very low. That is boring as all hell though to bet $1.00 and win $1.60, so I play the tourneys with big prizes.
Think of it as a casino. Don't think about the probability, think about the POSSIBILITY. The site is way more fun that way. At the end of the day, it is 100% gambling, and the outcomes way more out of your control than you think.
