Nissan removed Keenan from their voting page for the Heisman Trophy despite the fact that he is leading the popular vote by a country mile. Now you have to manually nominate him in order to vote. Disgusting.

I suggest we all send a big American f*ck you to Nissan and vote for Midshipman Reynolds anyway. Excellence with integrity, gentlemen.

Um, why would they do that?

My guess is that they want their vote to a more conventional football program, or so that fewer people will vote strictly out of a sense of patriotism. But screw that. I wasn't going to vote, but now I'm going to go out of my way to shove LPC's up Nissan's rear end.

I mean he doesn't deserve to win the award anyway. It's not a lifetime achievement award and his stats were good but not as good as other players. Kinda a shitty move by Nissan tho.

Disagree. It's not a stats award. That's kind of the Maxwell. It's the player who "best exemplifies the pursuit of excellence with integrity." Keenan Reynolds basically fits that to a T.

Jameis Winston won it a couple years ago so I don't think they even care about this. All the players under consideration haven't had any major problems. My pick is Dalvin Cook.

i would love if Cook won purely because the Doak Walker award folks don't think he's even the 3rd best rb this year lol

I wrote in Reynolds.

Me too.

They made it really clumsy to do so. You need to pick the conference (American), The team (Navy), Then the player (just start typing his name since names appear not to be in any order).

Not sure who decides the names on the list, but dropping Reynolds is asking for a PR shitstorm...just dumb.

Only if the press knows about it. Anybody have a screenshot or cache with Reynolds name on it? Send it to mailto:tips@deadspin.com. They love taking ESPN down.

I think it's horseshit that Nissan removed the choice, but I think it's horseshit his name was a choice to begin with.

Almost no one agrees with you if the fact that Reynolds has has as many votes as the next two or three candidates is any indication. Are you perhaps confusing the Heisman with the Maxwell?

They're alphabetical by last name but list first name first, so it's awkward.

He definitely deserved to be in contention up until last week when Houston steamrolled Navy. There are no clear cut traditional Heisman stand out's this year so its a no brainer for him to be on the shortlist.

No.. I'm not confusing anything.

If you think he is even close to deserving consideration, you're being silly.

I agree and disagree.

If he would have made a herculean effort to beat Houston, perhaps he could have been considered. But he didn't.

And... there are plenty of great Heisman candidates this year. Let's not be silly.

i think this is why the folks than run the heisman removed him when they did. It kinda looked silly to have him up there when his team had been manhandled in their biggest game.

The Heisman candidates this year:
Fornette: did next to nothing in a game vs his biggest rival - not challenging for top 4
Mayfield: made the Texas D look like the 85 Bears, scored points on terrible Big12 defenses.
Watson: Good player on a great time but hardly putting up huge numbers
Dalvin Cook: good RB on mediocre team - not challenging for top 4

It sounds a lot like you're confusing the criteria for the awards. Don't forget we have a Heisman winner from a 2-8 team. The Maxwell is the best player. The Heisman best exemplifies excellence with integrity. You haven't really explained why you think he doesn't meet the Heisman criteria.

Reynolds is not the best player. That is irrelevant. The fact that he led his team to an historical season while breaking various Navy and NCAA records makes him a truly outstanding player, and the Academy standards for integrity are without peer.

Did you agree with the decision to award it to Manziel? 0 TD and 3 int combined against LSU and Florida the year he won it. Utterly wilted in every meaningful game outside of the one against Alabama. No integrity. At least all of those guys seem like decent people.

He is a truly outstanding player. He's great.

He's not even close to Heisman status. You're being goofy.

(To compare Paul Hornung and Keenan Reynolds makes your argument even sillier.)

Who's more deserving? Who else isn't just their team's current best player and/or plays behind a great O-line?

Not comparing Hornung to Reynolds. Just pointing out that winning every game doesn't particularly matter. Reynolds was 13/16 passing in that game and personally accounted for more than 400 yds of offense.

I guess I should have said that I think internet polling about ANYTHING is ridiculous.

Do you think the masses should have any say over... well... anything? I sure don't.

Absolutely not, nor Famous Jameis for that matter. They really need to reboot the whole voting/selection process for the Award and redefine what the winner should be about. There's no point sticking the word "integrity" in there when it obviously does not matter.

I have nothing against the 4 guys I mentioned, like you sad they have all kept their noses clean and had decent seasons. I would just say that this year there are no outstanding candidates who are head and shoulders above the others. And in such a case (up until the houston game) there's no reason why not to include Reynolds in this group.

You didn't answer the question about who would get your vote. Who is head and shoulders above Reynolds? He has as many rushing touchdowns as Ezekiel Elliott, and a few extra passing touchdowns. Plus there's the whole leadership thing.

You're honestly asking the resident Communist why he would be against a kid from NAVY?
