Generally speaking yes. Outside of couple of breweries, most of craft breweries are really new and thus still finding their feet. Dragoon makes a very good IPA (88-90), and San Tan brewery has some good special beers (but their standard beers are very very average) such as Fat Alber (Imperial brown ale brewed with smoked apples, brown sugar, and toasted oats, and a fair amount of hops), KiloHop IPA, Count Hopula, and Night of the Living Red) and Mother Road makes a few ok ones.

Ok, that is a long winded way of saying that the craft beer scene here is subpar but improving.

ETA: That is brewed here, we get a ton of good Cali beers and some Michigan beers since we have so many transplants.

I was just wondering, as I heard that the founder of Sun King (out of Indy) is moving to Arizona soon to start a new brewery. I can't recall if I shared that before.

Obsidian will be tomorrow. And I keep pestering about getting Stone Enjoy By in, so I'll be trying it soon.

I don't think that you have mentioned it. If you hear more let me know. It seems like we have a new brewery every week (the problem being that most of them are just ok).

That would probably be my definition of Sun King, though their Cream Ale is one of the best lighter beers I've had. All of their stuff is solid at least.

I'm not a big fan myself. But I believe sunking showed very well in Denvers beer fest.

Stone Enjoy By 10/31/15. Much hoppier than I recall 07/04/15 being. Bitter. Nice. I don't think I enjoy it as much as I liked 07/04/15, but still very good. Beats the pants off the other beers I've had lately

What beer?

How do you have California hatch green chiles? Is this like your California Chianti last night?

ETA: I agree with zelezo, that does sound good.

Will be going to the grand opening of a local brewery here in Houston, Brash Brewing, today at 4. They've been brewing here all year, but they're now opening to the public. Gonna have 80's arcade games, a few heavy metal bands, and a delicious list of beers.

Some of those beers are great. Hope you have a good time. Let us know what you have when you get back (and sober up).

Mother Road Tower Station IPA. Lots of grapefruit and grapefruit peel with some peach, orange and tangerine up front. The finish is all grapefruit peel and pine. A bitter finish. Interesting how a change in glassware from last time brings out different flavors. Overall a solid IPA from a local brewery.

With dinner tonight Kirkland Signature Cotes du Rhone Villages 2013. Very good for $7. Blackberry, blueberry, cassis and a hint of cigar box/oak/baking spices. I feel like I should give Costco another $5.

ETA: As it warms up the cigar box disappears and the baking spices become more prominent.
