Imagine a defense with two OLBs being Daelin and Claypool (I know, WR), and MLB being Coney/Morgan.

Hayes may never play a down of OLB at ND.

ND has OLB's for days. On the roster, in the pipeline and safeties who are eating their Wheaties to become full time LB's. DE's are a complete other story.

The kids athletic talent is unquestioned. His summer performances as an LB in coverage are well documented too. I have to ask, if you were him wouldn't you go to a 3-4 school to best match your talents? That is unless you want to be a full time DE...

helmholdt from rivals--If today were Signing Day ... Hayes is a mid-year enrollee so we will not have to wait until National Signing Day to find out his destination. He has already signed a grant-in-aid form with USC, but in the end I think he ends up at Notre Dame. - See more at: https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1808918#sthash.co2WG4rd.dpuf

I know we keep hearing it from various outlets, but I am just planning on him not being here until he is here. ONLY then I will do the Mypos Dance of Joy

Did anyone really doubt this? Thanks for the info Panda.

Wiltfong has never even switched it to cloudy so until he changes it, DH's dead to me. I DO however like the fact that ND is spoken of favorably in his press releases. More clicks, more better. All I care is that the Irish beat the Trojans on the 17th. Then let Daelin do what he wants.

Plus, I know he's a great physical talent and all but that Hudl highlight tape is misnamed.

Pass on this kid. He doesn't know what he wants. Move on to the next target.

Aaron Lynch already played for us once. The drama isn't worth it again.

If ND really wants this kid and he is leaving the door open let Max Redfield & Jaylon Smith host this kid when he comes for the USC game.

God forbid a 17 year old kid not know where he wants to go to college in the first week of October. Most normal kids don't pick their schools until spring. Jesus Christ you guys are ridiculous. One second this kid is a physical freak and would be the crown jewel of the class when a report comes out and says ND could flip him and then the next second you're saying he's not worth the scholarship because he's injury prone and doesn't know what he wants when a report comes out that he may stick with USC! I mean have you seen how many kids we have on scholarship that were committed somewhere else at some point? Jesus Christ this isn't most of your first recruiting Rodeo (dope album btw). Chill the fuck out and let the kid choose where he wants to spend his next four years.

Excellent point Philly. I didn't decide once and for all to go to Notre Dame until APRIL of my senior year. This is coming from a lifelong Notre Dame fan. Not only was ND the best school I got into, I didn't have dozens of football coaches telling me how great I was to complicate issues. I was always heavily leaning ND but making the final decision is tough. I can't even imagine what its like for these recruits. Give these kids a break

Literally didn't make my decision on my school until right before graduation. The graduation pamphlet had Saint Louis down for me instead of fordham. Seriously wouldn't have had any idea if I was a football recruit and had to sign in February. It's the reason we see transfers like Vanderdoes.

Hahaha that's great. I don't know if the older crowd who is more removed from the application process realize how accelerated that timeline is for athletes. For reference, I didn't even get my APPLICATION to ND in until their early action deadline on Nov 1. That is in a month to even apply for regular students LOL. The "normal" deadline is January 1 for regular students.

Eventhough this kid's actions in the recruiting game sound very wishy-washy he is extremely high character. Kid has had a difficult high school phase of his life with injuries/moving state and back/parents marriage etc. Sorta kid that once he's on campus you forget all about the ups and downs of his recruitment.

IMO he's worth going to the wire under NSD for

“Seeing the two front-runners go at it and seeing who comes out on top,” Hayes said of what he’s looking forward to. “It will be my first time seeing USC in a game setting. I’ve never seen a game of USC live.”

will official for usc at the usc vs ucla game. He added the final decision is “probably going to be my gut.”

So we need to root for UCLA later this year. Do you want the bullet in your left ear or your right ear?

"We should root for USC because we need them to be a quality win"

"We should root for USC to lose because they are our rival"

I understand.

I don't care about recruits or polls/rankings. I just want ND to beat USC period.

C'mon boys - get past Navy (with a W) in tact and come in hot against the Trojans.

Hopefully he watched that USC - UW game last night... although apparently not many people did.

Does any team in the country waste as much talent as USC does?

No not since Carroll left. Sark isn't a good coach and never has been.

Wow. I wonder how many players in history have gotten a blue blood - Top 20 football scholarship and played less games?

I hope he doesn't pick the Irish because he feels at home in the MASH unit.
