I think we've peaked, or near peaked under Kelly, but he's the best option available right now so we're stuck with him. 8-9 wins a year is a hell of a lot better than we were doing before.

So who is next on the 'year ending injury' list for next week? We already lost our #1 DL IMO, our QB, #1 RB. Fuller/Jaylon/Stanley? Odds?

I fucking hate it but this is my thought process right now. Games aren't even fun to watch because I'm just cringing everytime there's a tackle.

Maybe that's where the divide comes from. Some people (like me) expect championship caliber football. Others are satisfied with 8 wins because of all the other coaches since Lou. I don't think we are an 8 win program. I think we can be a 10 win program with the right coach.

I think BVG's defense is wayyyy more of an issue right now than Kelly. No turnovers so far and the team looks sharp from a mental standpoint on offense. The offense has scored pretty heavily these last two seasons, bad defense and not scoring quick enough in the redzone is what's hurting us.

Unless you count the turnover they forced. Today. But yeah, I'm not feeling great about BVG. Hopefully today was more about UVA's offensive play calling than BVG...

If injuries and the other standard responses to coach criticism carry so much weight we might as well shut this board down and give up on ND football ever winning a championship. I refuse to settle for being above average.

Yeah, but this is ND not Bama/OSU. We can't afford injuries like football factories. We recruit just well enough to have top talent at the starting positions, but our backups are littered with 3-star, RKG's. OSU/Bama's 2nd/3rd string isn't. That's just how it is at ND, and it's not changing with a HC change. We need MORE luck in the injury department than a football facrtory school. ND can't be compared across the board because we'll never have 4/5 star guys at back up spots across the board. OSU has 5 star guys sitting in the 3 deep.
