Fu*k!! There is no way this is a blessing in disguise. Tillery could be amazing but losing Jarron is in no way a blessing to anyone. Watch the FSU game and Michigan game from last year and watch Jarron toy with centers and guards all game long. Dude is a beast when he is locked in and healthy. All he needed was consistency to be truly dominant...which is usually what comes in upperclassmen years. Hopefully Tillery and the others can soften the blow.

Well guys, this is a big loss for sure. Thank god we don't face many teams who are studs in the running game (Navy and GT excluded ). On the positive side, at least Tillery was an EE and if he can operate at 70% of what Jarron did, we should be ok. If not, let's hope our LB's are ready to step their shit up.

On the bright side our 2016 DTs of tillery and Jarron will be fucking massive.

Maybe Pete Mokwuah can step up too. Cage had some good moments last year. This is why i prefer the 43 base defense, this loss would be even harder with a 34 defense.

Oh, we'll survive. Somebody will step up. Tillery appears to be the real deal. Rochell could maybe slide inside. Hayes will get his shot. And it'll be nice to have Jones back next year. But there's really no spinning this one. It just blows.

cage's development just became much more vital to the outcome of this season.

I was really looking forward to the big man pushing guards or centers right back into the opposing QBs faces ... we have no one who has proved that he can do that except Jarron. BVG has been doing a lot of sliding Rochell in already, and had to when the DT injury avalanche happened last season. It's been said that this was planned for some regularity this year so Day could rotate outside in pass rush situations. This seems to be such a good idea that Jarron's injury probably won't change that theory [i.e. Rochell at DE when expecting run or base, and Day at DE when expecting pass], so Jarron's reps will probably go to people other than Isaac. The thing that might change that is if Tillery really isn't ready to start there, and they want to start Trumbetti and Okwara at DE instead, so Isaac goes inside.

need to move Rochelle inside where he belongs and Matuska will take some reps to sure up the inside with Cage and Hayes.

Really hope Blankenship and Bonner step up and compete to back Trumbetti and okwara on the outside. Also Randolph could be a pleasant surprise at DE

One guy that I am not hearing much about is JO???

While I wanted to melt down last night when I heard the JJ news, this morning I've been thinking of things for which we should be grateful. First, thank God we hired Keith Gilmore this offseason. We badly needed a pure DL coach on staff, and Gilmore has the experience and knowledge to ensure the drop-off between Jones and whoever is next isn't colossal. Furthermore, don't be surprised if one of Jones' backups makes the proverbial leap under Gilmore's tutelage and with increased minutes.

Second, thank God for the unexpected depth at DT. We'd be in a hell of a lot more trouble right now if Tillery and Matuska hadn't switched positions, and Rochelle hadn't proven capable of playing on the inside of the line. Hell, even Blankenship at 291 lbs. may be able to take some snaps at DT. Even though the loss Jones creates a massive void in our defense, we have a ton of capable bodies to throw at the problem.

...isn't practice still going right now?

Haha I think so. According to the schedule in the OP it is anyways. Loy literally just posted that video to youtube about 15 minutes ago and I put it up like a minute or two later.

On a different note...I really like how Dexter hits the hole. I know it's just practice but at least he isn't bouncing everything outside or juking everywhere. Seems like it's one cut and he goes. Small sample size but it's encouraging at least.
