birdman was the owner of the label wayne was apart of and holding his album hostage...thug and birdman are friends and thug is under the ownership of birdman...thug's manager was the one who shot at wayne's tour bus

Maybe. But he might want to use past tense in the title. Unless he immediately violates the conditions of his parole. Haha.

Anyhow, what ever happened to Jah Rule? Not a fan, just curious because I watched the Fast and Furious he had a small part in the other day.

he went away to jail for tax evasion/gun charges, got fat, then lost a ton of the weight, found Jesus and the rest is history

Meek - Drake beef was all around disappointing. Back to back wasn't terrible but compared to other beefs it was pretty bad.

I'm a big B.o.B fan, so I was pretty pumped when he released a surprise album last week called Psycadelik Thoughtz. His album before that, Underground Luxury, suuuuuuuucked. This new album is a bit closer to the original B.o.B with some nice tracks, but you can still hear his evolving personal style, which he manages a bit better with this new album. Not fantastic, but not bad either.

Below is my favorite track, "Up." I also really recommend giving "Hourglass" a listen, especially if you like MGMT.

I was in a long debate on Saturday (drunk) with a bunch of friends of top 5 rappers of all time.

I had Eminem, Ludacris (I'm a huge Luda fan), Kanye (I don't like him as a person but he has so many big time songs), and Jay Z in for sure.

Others that were on my list that we're too close to call: Dre, Snoop, Tupac, Biggie,

wow a lot of closet racism spread nicely throughout this thread...

im a huge kanye fan. right now i like future, isaiah rashad, vince staples, mick jenkins, lupe. im excited for the new travi$ scott project that should leak at any moment now. i enjoy young thug and rich homie quan but i wouldnt go as far to say i really like them. i like nas, e40, pac, jay as far as old heads. i end up listening to a lot of drake because of his popularity but im not really a fan. same deal with fetty wap but he just announced his album drop date so ill give that a few spins and give him a chance.

people saying hip hop beats are generic and subject-matter is only gangster shit but have never even considered listening to my beautiful dark twisted fantasy. theres a few out of touch people itt

Tupac, Biggie, Master P, Nas, Shady

Like all of them besides Nas. Master P didn't make enough good songs for me. Tupac and Biggie was a big debate because IMO, they didn't live long enough to make enough good songs, but if you take the top 4 songs of each, they're some of the best hip hop songs ever made.

The conversation can't even take place without Rakim on the list. Most underrated rapper IMO is AZ, and would have loved to be able to see what BIG L would have put out over a longer career. Same with the D.O.C.

KRS-One, Run and LL Cool J and maybe even Ice Cube also deserve consideration...at least for influence if not ability.

Master P doesn't belong anywhere on a list of top rappers. And JayZ, I've just never 'gotten' him.

Anyone else think B4DA$$ was the second best album this year behind only To Pimp a Butterfly? All of Joey Badass' projects have been dope. Think he's the most underrated rapper right now. Doesn't get the recognition of other "rappers" since he doesn't make bangers or pop hits (cough drake cough)

I grew up on hip hop, tribe, dialated peoples, PAC, stuff like that... In college I got into blues and stuff and haven't looked back, once your musical pallet adjusts to actual music that isn't electronic and real singing and such it's hard to go back,...hip hop beats are so generic in sound when compared... I kind of view it as boy band music with a hard image,... The real substance is limited musically.

With that said, if someone plays Midnight Marauders, Southernplayalisticcaddillacmuzac, All Eyes on Me, Ready to Die... stuff like that, then I can still enjoy it...

wow a lot of closet racism spread nicely throughout this thread...

I assume this was at me since I stated I turned from hip hop and most modern music due in large part to the electronic computer based beats and music?? And I assume that makes me racist?? Because I prefer,......... blues music??

Do Better...

and sorry, hip hop music does tend to be generic compared to other musical styles... in fact there isn't much 'music' to it... it's a great art form, more poetic than any modern form, and deserves discussion and attention, but imo, as a whole, it's clearly a few steps below other musical forms of expression that require many more layers of musical talent (Folk, Blues, Jazz, etc.) and once you've immersed yourself in those forms it's hard to fully go back to really any modern popular music, hip hop included... if you disagree that's fine, but calling racism is pure bullshit.

To the other hip hop heads I apologize, I am not meaning to derail anything and only opened this thread to share a funny video on one of my fav hip hop groups, Outkast, then I saw that and felt I had to respond.
