I find myself listening to more and more 80's country. That's what my parents listened to while I was growing up. I hated it at the time, now I have a Pandora station for it.

Speaking of bands that didn't "make it".

Here's the song that spawned about a thousand bands.

http://youtu.be/-ZTvqUvgYCI

Very well played Bluto!

The music scene that was brewing under the nose's of the hairbands in the mid 80's was what set up 1991's explosion when good music became pop..ular.

To honor your Jawbreaker submission I'll throw out some Dino Jr. Masics and Barlow, nuff said.

J's aged well.

That's really good once it picks up. You never know what you'll get from Billy from one album to the next. It works both ways for him.

I hate to sound like an old f*@& but I still like Gish more than anything they've done since.
I was at this show.

Gish was by far their best Album, Rhinoceros is on my top 10 all time songs.

Let's not forget this guy. He spanned Folk, Folk-Rock, Pop, Hard Rock, (A touch of) Country, Garage, Grunge and Punk.

Rhinoceros is my favorite too, couldn't find a good live version to post. The start of that album... I Am One, Siva and Rhinoceros are a 1-2-3 that stands up to just about anything.

I've got my N.Y.A.S t shirt for the shows! Probably the most continuously, influential artist of all time when it comes to rock music.

A few months ago, I went to see the Misfits, who now have Dez Cadena from Black Flag (my two favorite bands as a kid), and it was an unmitigated disaster. I was a "music widow" long before seeing those overweight old men wheeze through a 45 minute set, but that was proof positive AM radio is an alright choice during my commute.

I disagree. Even if you think Gish is the best album, it's definitely not "by far". Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie are both at least up there, and I'd say Siamese Dream is their best work, since it includes my favorite, The Rocket.

Was listening to a little Waterboys and World Party this morning. Yes... that's a Sinead O'Conner sighting in her back-up singing days.

Tonight it is All Along the Watchtower. Dave Matthews Band, Hendrix, Hodges, Pearl Jam, and Bob Dylan.

Never read the entire thread so here's a comment for post #1... Maybe all Dillon needed for this song was a fiddle, an accordion and Jimi to cover it.

Siamese dream was so overplayed, overheard it I guess. Although Today is a phenomenal song. Mellon collie and the infinite sadness couldn't touch either. That is my opinion. Everyone is looking for their own style.

Gish and Pisces Iscariot were good but Dream was one of those once in a blue moon albums... It was like the a Rumors album of the 1990s imo, a historic album by a band that never hit that peak again... Pumpkins jumped the shark with sadness as that album never demanded being a double... There was a reason Dream was overplayed, bc it was so damn good.

If you're talking about Rumors by Fleetwood Mac, that was released in 75 or 76. They had a solid run after Rumors with a number of hits. But rarely do you see any band release an album like Rumors and duplicate it.

Been playing a little Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, etc. on Pandora this week.

Was at a HS bball game last week. The pep band playing had about 30-40 kids in it. They were very good and were rocking a lot of classics from the late 60's like "Vehicle" and "25 or 6 to 4".

Yep, it was the top selling album ever,... Anyway my point is both bands had good albums before and after, but peaked with two great, historically good albums... That's how i view Siamese Dream vs their other albums, like Rumors vs Tusk or Tango in the Night.

Rumors is possibly my favorite album of all time.

Unrelated, but for any rap fans here, Drake's new album dropped last night.

A little Dr. John (The Night Tripper) might cure what leaves you in the wrong place at the right time ...

Blur announced a surprise new album today. Entitled The Magic Whip, it will be released on April 27. This is their first album since 2003's Think Tank. I am a huge fan of anything that Damon Albarn graces with his golden touch, so this is like Christmas morning for me. They've released a single on YouTube:

Albarn has also announced a new Gorillaz album for 2016, featuring the return to the fore of Jamie Hewlett. And if that wasn't enough he's written a new The Good, the Bad, and the Queen album that is waiting to be recorded. Damon Albarn doing work!

Not Big Brother and the Holding Company but a jazz style I like.

You will both be missed in my Rock 'n' Roll beating heart.

This probably won't mesh with most tastes on here, but whatever.

Joey Bada$$- B4DaAss album. Fairly new album. Brooklyn kid. 90's hip hop sound.

Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but it's official. I have booked my ticket to see Rush in concert. I'll be at the San Jose concert in July and possibly the Atlanta show in May if my mom decides to get tickets.

Who else is going, and if so, which venue?
