Hmm what's next? Let me guess.. Jaylon Smith transfers to OSU. We already know something shitty (besides this) is on the horizon. LOL

So has anyone seen the article on 24/7 Says weber and hs coach felt misled by Meyer and osu Said if new RBI coach was leaving he would of went to Michigan. Talked to urban Meyer night before nsd Hopefully Alford realizes the lack of integrity at buckeye nation and Meyer keeps burning bridges

Don't hold your breath. If this is about long term professional development, then I don't think what Meyer may or may not have said to a '15 kid will have any bearing on Alford's decision.

Zaire comes out as an atheist, Jerry Tillery decides he wants to give baseball a shot, Greg Bryant gets fat, and we find out Lennay Kekua was actually real and Father Jenkins is having an affair with her.

I'm willing to hold out hope until something official is said. It would totally blow for Alford to leave ND. That being said, I think we'd be just fine. If we end up getting Jeff Quinn (QBs) and Autry Denson (RBs) it seems like we'd be better for it. Denson has a ton of ties in the sunshine state and is a proven commodity that can sell ND, and Quinn is a mainstay in the midwest with Kelly ties (seriously though, what was UB on when they fired him?). In addition, this could be a wakeup call for Kelly, who needs to realize that he has to step it up in the recruiting game.

Just a really bad look for ND when Urban Meyer can pick and choose which Irish assistant he wants and get it.

Also not a good look if like all fans, players, and coaches, Alford wants a Championship under his belt and sees it happening at OSU again before ND.

He may be a d-bag, but the one thing he does is win. Which in most peoples eyes is the most important thing. 99 schools out of 100 would take him as there HC right now.

Best of luck to whatever Alford does. He comes across as a good coach who cares about his players and those that he recruits. The fact that BK has not promoted him does tell me something, as it should Alford. A few thing from my POV:

Professional growth: This may very well be Tony trying to improve his stock to become a coordinator and then HC at some point in his career. He's pretty much been in the same position since BK came on board and is obviously not seen as a coordinator.

Moving on: Although he develops great relationships with recruits and seems to recruit the "right way", maybe Kelly is ready to move on. Although Alford recruits well, he doesn't come across as a closer (look at 2014 RB recruiting). Could be time to part ways for all involved.

Best of luck to whatever happens here. Alford seems pretty classy and he needs to take care of #1.

Admittedly know nothing about? What are you even talking about

There's nothing personal here. I don't start stuff with you. I rarely read your posts. It's all you and your obsession with me. You take a subjective topic and start your 'nope, wrong, you know nothing' antics and continue throwing shit at every wall to see where it sticks.

You think Denbrock is a GREAT recruiter. I don't and a lot of others don't as well. We have different expectations and definitions of decent, good, great. I look at it from a national perspective - who's kicking down the door to get to Denbrock because of his recruiting skills? No one. You look at it as a local perspective, that's cool. Move on.

I'll move on when I'm ready. You can move on any time you like. It's not difficult.

You're the guy who says, "I don't know much about this, but here's my opinion on it" and then goes on to defend it with 30 subsequent posts LOL, even though you admit you know basically nothing about the topic. So yeah, that's what I'm talking about. And in this case, you know nothing.

And again, I don't follow you. I'm not sure how good you are at math, but you post 50 times a day at least. I post FAR less, and respond to you maybe once a week. But your paranoia gets the best of you and you consider THAT an obsession. Get over yourself LOL.

So let's hear you explain why you want to fire/demote Denbrock.

While, I'd understand Tony moving on to get himself in a better position to move up the ladder, Ohio State just isn't that place. They just hired Ed Warriner as their OC and named Tim Beck co-OC, so that means Alford would be stuck in a similar role at O$U, only now, he's basically starting at ground zero and would most definitely not be head recruiter anymore.

That being said, I'm in the party of people who think Alford leaving isn't the end of the world (I despise that he would be taking a lateral move). There are definitely coaches out there that can replace Alford and Kelly has done well in replacing his coaching staff in the past.

For those like Koon that are demanding we demote Denbrock and promote Alford to OC, I'd like to know the reasons why. Sure, I'd LOVE to keep Alford, but at the expense of losing Denbrock, perhaps our best position coach, IMHO an excellent recruiter, and a guy that BK completely entrusts with his offense? That's maddening to me.

Alford has a great reputation as a recruiter and I'm sure a good reputation as a coach, but yet he's been here 6 years and has never even interviewed for an OC job, much less taken one. Why do you think that is? And yet someone wants to demote Denbrock and take a chance on a guy that no one else (not even mid-level programs) will even interview for?

I just don't see the rationale behind that.

If he leaves that's 3 coaches in a 2 week span! 2 of which are taking lateral moves, what the hell is CBK doing??? I understand if coaches move on for higher positions, but for lateral moves???? I'm sorry, but this is a type of coach CBK can not afford to lose, I guess the ball is in his court and we will see how he reacts to it!!

On a side note the sight of Urban Meyer's smug face makes me want to punch it over and over and over again! I was flipping through the channels and saw his face on real sports and instinctively picked up a chair to throw at my tv. My wife brought me back to earth so the tv is saved for now, no telling what happens if she isn't there next time!

Side note - I forgot how awesome Autry Denson was as a RB. Ballar.

I'm headed to OSU campus right now to play hoops. If I see Alford I'm showing him my Lep tattoo and screaming we are ND!

Ohio State: Per source, Notre Dame’s Tony Alford plans to accept Urban Meyer’s offer to join the staff at Ohio State as running backs coach.

I think Denbrock and Alford are the two best recruiters on the staff right now, and don't think it's really that close. Heistand dominates his position, but can't really go after anyone else. Those 2 are great recruiters of any prospect - the only reason we haven't heard as much about Denbrock this year is because he couldn't be on the road as much due to the promotion to OC (I think we need to have him out in Cali again for sure).

People can talk about Tony just being a mediocre coach but when the best Head Coach in college football needed a RB coach he went right after Alford. That says a lot.

Best of luck to him, I thought he did a great job here. Hope the next guy is even better.

On the bright side, we knew this was coming eventually. We should be thankful it was after NSD and not in January.

We have a long time to find replacements before it hurts us in recruiting.

For the record I'm not a guy that's goin to be, I'm happy for him. He's knows he'll be directly competing against this staff and his kids that he recently committed.

This hurts.

Gonna be salty towards Alford for a while.

I bet Dexter Williams is thrilled.
