This is what happens when you don't pay your assistants what they're worth.......

Hmmmm, so, if this is a done deal, who can we get that can recruit Texas for us?

Didn't Chuck Martin make over 500K as the offensive coordinator, and took a pay cut to be the HC at Miami of Ohio? I just don't think there is probably as much of a discrepancy in pay between our assistants and most other schools.

Of course there are the top paid DC's and OC's at some schools throughout the country, but I would imagine Notre Dame is fairly competitive with what the majority of teams pay.

And for those who say, "careful what you wish for, BK is the best we can get, etc.", I don't care.

I'd rather have a guy a little less proven who is all in, attacks recruiting, and establishes a culture of toughness.

At best, the new guy wins a national championship.

At worst, we stay on the same path we're on now; 4 losses a season.

Oklahoma DC went to Iowa around the same time as Cooks and some are posting that they are buddies.

David Cutcliffe and his Duke staff could arrive in South Bend tomorrow and I'd welcome them with open arms.

I'm guessing some of OU's assistants make almost twice as much as our assistants.

Haha, you assume the next coach in ONLY loses 4 a season. You haven't considered that we regress under a different coach. Kelly is recruiting about as well as you can hope for ND, they've instituted some positive changes for the program over the years, they're doing a good job developing players based on NFL draft numbers, and he's the first coach to get back to the NCG since '88 (Even if we weren't ready yet). Most other coaches are going to do worse than 4 losses under the same circumstances.

That's not an answer. It's easy to complain and whine. Coming up with realistic alternatives is another matter. At worst we can go back to the Weis and Willingham years. I for one would rather not take that chance with a nobody. We've gone down that road before, and it hasn't worked. If you have realistic alternatives, I'm all ears. Otherwise, it just comes off as naïve, short-sighted whining.

I like Cutcliffe, but I'm not sure he'd be an improvement over Kelly. I would expect similar results to what Kelly has done thus far.

I feel ya. But it pisses me off to no end that BK is sniffing Belicheater's jock this weekend, rather than closing on safety recruits.

Maybe BK just forgot to look at the depth chart for the last 12 weeks?

David Cutcliffe seems like a great fit.

If you can turn around DUKE I think you can win at ND. And if you can recruit at Duke, you can DEFINITELY recruit at ND, and his staff has some great recruiters.

Everything Dave Cutcliffe has done is strong and would fit at ND, I just don't want someone who's 60 years old. I want a young, energetic guy who's going to grind at recruiting.

Fair enough, although I think he'd do about the same as Kelly. But I have to give you credit for at least providing a name.

He's just the most practical. There's obviously Charlie Strong but he just started a new project.

My question is how long is it till our best recruiter is gone? It's going to happen just a matter if when.

Look at the bright side...maybe it opens the door to bring Jeff Quinn on staff. Move Booker to defense.
