Frank: "What can Notre Dame offer me?"
BVG & Cooks: "Did you see Nelson Agholor catch 10 balls for 200 + yards and 3TDs on us yesterday? You can start from day one. Plus the great education."

Or what Stanford can say, "hey look at ND and they are crashing and burning, and we have a great education here too and we are getting better and they are getting worse."

It is hard to beat established programs when ours is in a full dumpster fire. 5/high 4 star athletes come here and transfer or don't play (Kiel, Eddie V, Neal, Bryant, Max, Lynch). It is hard to keep fighting others on what is going on here. Very hard. We all see how great ND truly is, and how much we love it. But, you know it is very easy to bash us, and actually rightfully so.

Except Stanford isn't getting better.

One Andrus Peat and Ty Montgomery leave the "golden age" at Stanford is done.

If you asked me to pick between them and ND a program that is on the ups i would take ND every time.

I think it's on the decline as well. Next year will tell us if they are done or not.

Agreed. They can still mediocre, but Harbaugh/Luck was a different era that changed recruiting for a time. Hope I'm wrong, honestly. I like seeing good academic schools compete.

Scout: Buncom Recaps Nashville Trip

"The trip was a lot of fun," Buncom said of his weekend visit to Nashville. "Since I went with Quenton, a fellow San Diegan, they gave us two player-hosts, Tre Tarpley and Emmanuel Smith. It was such an honor to be there, man. I've had a good relationship with Coach Mason for a long time going back to when he was the defensive backs coach at Stanford. I got to spend some more time with him and got to meet his coaching staff, as well as a lot of the players.

"The SEC definitely has a different vibe for the other colleges I've been to. Being there for the big rivalry game with Tennessee, I got to see first-hand the culture and the passion the fans bring to game time. It's pretty incredible to witness. It's a crazy fan base, man. I loved it though. It was an awesome atmosphere to be a part of.

"I like the city of Nashville a lot. It wasn't my first time being there. I had actually been once before and really liked it, so being out on the town wasn't completely unfamiliar to me. We didn't spend much time out though. I stayed on campus, for the most part, seeing the whole academic and athletic side of things. We got to talk to some of the administrators, the A.D., and some of the players on the team who are on the Pre-Med track about the school's curriculum.

"My favorite part of the trip was just being with the players hanging out. Once we got away from the coaches and everybody else and were just started talking and laughing, having a good time. It gave me a feel of what's it's like to be a part of the team. I really enjoyed that aspect of it.

"One other thing that stood out was talking with my position coach, Brett Maxie. Coach Mason, you know, he likes a bigger cornerback. He converted Richard Sherman from a wide receiver to cornerback when he was at Stanford. I'm 6-foot-2, and fit the mold as the prototypical defensive back he covets for his defense.

"I've taken one official to Notre Dame and have two coming up to Cal and Stanford. Right now I don't have any particular order, but those are, primarily, the main four I'm focused on. I'd say after this visit Vanderbilt definitely helped their cause. I really enjoyed myself."

Buncom, 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, played a rover position in his senior senior at St. Augustine alternating between linebacker and strong safety. He made 64 tackles in 12 games for the Saints with three tackles for loss, and three pass breakups on defense and scored five touchdowns on offense at wide receiver. Buncom,a four-year starter, has one game remaining in his high school career this Friday, December 5th, in the Division I finals at Southwestern College in Chula Vista against Madison.

From NFL lineage, Buncom's grandfather, Frank Buncom II, played at USC and then professionally with the San Diego Chargers. Buncom is developing a legacy of his own in Southern California and is known by fans, coaches, and teammates alike as "Frank Buncom the fourth."

Do you guys think we can land him now that Stanford pulled Edwards or do you think they get both? Would really like to get Frank or Reid to close out the secondary this year.

Would be sweet if he'd get it over with and publicly commit before BK's in home with Reid on Wednesday. Maybe Reid already knows Buncom's going to Stanford, but couldn't hurt to see it on paper.
