This company ran test with 12 authentic NFL game balls where they pumped them to 12.5 PSI at 75 degrees, then simulated first half of game with temperature and rain. The average ball dropped by 1.8 PSI. Belichick literally told people yesterday to go out and do their own experiments. I don't see how anyone can think they are lying at this point.

Lulz. Except it was only half of the balls on the field and by more than 1.8 psi

Guess physics only applies to the Patriots.

Colts said they were deflating at halftime... All but one of their balls were deflated while none of the Colts' were... They have a history of cheating...

It's the weather.

All of the above.

+1. Move the hell on. It's officially Super Bowl week.

And they are working on the next way to cheat the rules

We're talking about DEFLATED FOOTBALLS. Think about that. DEFLATED FOOTBALLS. Seriously? How is that a lead story on freakin CNN, FOX, ABC world news. I'm beyond annoyed.

The premise that the Colts balls were checked and within range is based on the radio comments of a retired referee who was expressing what kinda sorta should have happened to the best of his recollection... maybe. How the hell would he know?

Bill Nye says the Patriots are full of shit.

Belichick claimed rubbing the footballs to break them in over the course of a game was to blame for lowering their pressure.

"Rubbing the football, I don't think you can change the pressure," Nye said, indicating one would need an air pump with a needle in order to change ball pressure. "I cannot help but say, go Seahawks," Nye said.

Hopefully Nye isn't allowing his own bias to come in to play here. The 'Science Guy' was a longtime Seattle resident and is a noted fan of Seattle sports.

Super Bowl XLIX takes place Feb. 1 at 6:30 pm EST, and in our opinion, can't get here soon enough.

For those interested. Belichick was pretty adamant about this yesterday.

Because its well known that 1 psi in a football is the equivalent of 4 touchdowns. Consider this at 12.5 psi the average kicker can kick a 55 yard feildgoal, BUT at 11.5 psi a kicker can kick a feild goal from as far as 37.7 miles away. Thats a huge competitive advantage.

And more importantly was the reason how the balls were deflated. Which according to patriots fans was caused by global warming. But here is the twist: Global warning was caused by man. AND the Patriots are considered man; well at least a perversed, malicious and revolting subspecies. So if we take into Geometric transitive law into place, which let me break down for you cause it can be pretty complicated and I know it very well since I graduated from college. Well, I go to college; or no I mean I went to college. Well I at least know what college is. If A=B and B=C then A=C. So now appply this to the Pats. Global warming caused deflategate (Seriously what a badass name for a scandal, right up their with Iran-Contra and Lewinskygate) Global warming was cause by Man. The patriots are Man. Also Neo-Nazis are man ======== ***CONCLUSION***** The Patriots are NEO-NAZIS

There hasn't been a single person that I've seen claim deflated balls is the reason they won. That doesn't mean it's not an issue.

And who would you believe. A scientist or some football coach known for toeing the rules line, and crossing it at times.

The only people anywhere defending the Pats are Pats fans....

Why the hate? Do you think Belichick somehow changed the name on the Browns draft card submitted to Goodell last year to Manziel?

Always good to get an unbiased 3rd party scientist.

ESPN has poll that show that 73% of people believe Belichick.

Here it is if you wanna vote and join the 27% :)

Poll Conversation - ESPN

That poll is about BB initial press conference. That he knew nothing. Not that someone in the organization didn't do it.

Honestly my closest friend is a Pats fan. It's a rivalry thing. I've hated them for 20 years.

I was just poking with that one. I just found it funny a kids science show guy feels the need to get involved. Hell I don't think it should be a world news issue. I do however believe they intentionally deflated the balls.

After listening to Bill Belichick's impassioned declaration that the Patriots did nothing wrong, do you believe him?

Maybe we're interpreting the question differently, but I read it as "do you believe Belichick when he says the Patriots did nothing wrong?" This poll is for his press conference yesterday. This isn't about him saying he knew nothing about it like on Thursday.

My fault. I clicked but assumed it was the poll from the other day when it was posted following his initial PC.

Rivalry? oh, between you and your buddy, got it. For a minute I thought you meant Pats and Browns or Pats and Lions.

The rivalry between him and I, yes. He's a Pats, Lakers, Yankees, UofM fan. I've grown to hate all of them because of it. We tried to put together a trip to NE to watch the NE v Lions game this year and fell short. He wanted to see Brady, at home, in person before he retires and new I'd only go when they play the Lions. Probably deflated the balls in that game too

NFL bears plenty of blame for #DeflateGate | ProFootballTalk

Good read for people on both sides of the fence.

So now 10 of the balls were actually closer to one pound under inflated instead of the two previously reported. I love the modern media, take a zero story and try to make it into a ten, regardless of the facts. Who the hell knows what that has been reported is actually true. As a non Pats fan or hater I find the whole thing ridiculous. Brady looked much better in the 2nd half anyway.

I was at the Pats Lions game this year. It was not very competitive.

Considering that no less than two thirds of all people I've ever met seem to be at least somewhat mentally impaired, I'm OK with that.

Says the guy who meets most of the people he knows in the land of the Pats.
You fell into that one my friend.

Buried in a PFT post tonight, it turns out that according to a league source 10 of the 11 footballs that were supposedly underinflated by two PSI were actually only underinflated by 1 PSI, which would strongly suggest that Belichick's explanation is correct. Oh, and the one ball that was atually 2 PSI low? The one that DyQwell Jackson picked off and the Colts had in their possession prior to it being tested. So lets turn this around: if they somehow took air out of the ball in an effort to frame the Patriots, Irsay should be fined the maximum amount permitted by league rules and Grigson and Pagano should be suspended indefinitely and given a "show-cause" ruling to ever work in the league again. Now that would be some underhanded shit.
