Just watched this dudes film and I absolutely love it.

He makes plays all over the field. When he hits the ball carrier, they go backwards. And RIP to any wr coming over the middle.

Finishing with ESB, Williams, and Justin would be terrific

Agree completely. By far my favorite Safety we are still pursuing. This weekend is huge.

Also, SIAP, but his dad is coming with him this weekend to ND. Anna thinks we have a legit shot as a dark horse now. As of now LSU's offer is not commitable either - he would likely have to wait until his visit the weekend of 1/30 to know if he could even to go LSI.

So who's left in the mix?

Stanford. To a lesser degree LSU, but as stated above, he can't commit there right now unless they determine later they have an open spot for him. As of now they don't.

Even if he were to commit to us this weekend, I wouldn't be comfortable unless he called off his LSU visit and cut off communication with them... It appears they could slide in last minute and a secure a commitment from him as soon as a spot opens up.

Hopefully we can really sell him on the academic side. LSU simply can't compete with us in that aspect.

I have no info as always, but if he were to commit to ND, I don't think ND would allow him to make the LSU visit. And FWIW, with him being an academics kid and meaning it (see, Stanford his likely home), and the family being involved with Dad coming along, I don't think he fits the flake-out-at-the-last-minute type, especially when there's not much time left as is.

Your concerns are spot on, but for some reason I'd personally not worry about LSU in this case if he were to lock into ND over the weekend.

Loy said Stanford is his leader but it definitely seemed as though he could be persuaded

He's ours. We get all the Louisiana kids. Tillery...Wallace... The list goes on an on. :)

To be honest, I feel like we get him.

Feels like Reid is our best/most likely safety option at this point, no? Go get him.

Tigerbait (rivals LSU) posted an interview with his HC. TIFWIW, the whole interview reads like his HC wants him at LSU. Basically the change in DC might have put Reid back in the game for LSU. "I never thought LSU was in play until lately."

I.e., the change in D.C. gave LSU the pretextual explanation they needed to explain why they have only started recruiting him now.

I still think we land him.

Yup. We used the same excuse last year.

First of all, the anti-hypocrisy police always crack me up! No one can ever claim that ND fans aren't earnest

But I am not sure that the change of heart wasn't real with Cage. Diaco, was as stingy with offers as he was with points on Saturdays. The lack of offers to DTs was mind-blowing. I think the new DC was pretty baffled why we hadn't offered Cage.

Not really the same thing. LSU didn't "offer" because they wouldn't have room, and used the DC change as a cover up. ND didn't offer Cage because Diaco stuck to a physical profile that Cage didn't meet. He wasn't the only DT that was offered when BVG was hired either. I don't see LSU going through a drastic scheme change like ND did last year.

How is there such a discrepancy between his rankings. #8 safety overall by 247, all the way to 40th and 70th safety or so on other sites?

Kind of reminds me of a safety prospect a few years back from Stone Mountain, GA. I want this kid and the kid from GA, this year (Farrar).

How is his LSU offer not commitable? They filled up at safety and not like his film enough?

He is my highest prospect for safety for me and if we can win this one that would be huge.

Per Wiltfong, Sonny and Shea at LSU 247, continue to believe Reid won't end of in their class. If LSU misses on Jamal Peters they could push for Reid next week but it doesn't seem likely. All in on Stanford as of right now. See if that changes.
