Always thought this song had a very sad sound to it:

Dude.... Dude.... Swervedriver!!!! Fantastic. I have met less than 10 people in my life that has listened to them. There are days where I put Swervedriver, Kyuss, and Peach on my iPhone, plug in the ear buds and get shit done.

From the band that Helmet directly inspired.

I always considered Chevelle more of a Tool/Perfect Circle clone, I mean influenced band.

Cackalacky, since you have over developed musical taste buds for a yungin...what's your take?

Mine = The greatest band that almost was:

This dates back to the year 3 BC (before Curt), 6 years before Nirvana broke.

Kyuss is awesome. The Desert Sessions are amazing, some great collaborative efforts in them too. I have always been a fan of anything Josh Homme is/has been a part of.

I'm currently listening to Coheed nonstop. My favorite band, and they just are amazing. Live shows are electric.

I think if it came down to it, I'd prefer Peggy Lee's version in comparison to Little Willy John's and Buddy Guy's, she just sang it smooth. Buddy's felt too slow and I don't know if I liked the jazz touches with the band. I like the song, just not 8 minutes worth of it

Not bad. Sounds like Husker Du. The Jonse's, Descendent's and X get my vote for greatest bands "that almost was" from the 80's.

Yep... lots of components of grunge there. Thats good stuff. I can see it as a bridge between the Black Flags and Husker Dus and the subpop bands from the late 1980s. Its amazing how bands like this can exist and you dont hear about them yet the record labels and the public latch on to something similar propelling ththose bands to stardom.

Just got done listening to what was my 2nd taste of Yes. Sadly, no Bruford.

Good call on Husker Du. I saw Squirrelbait one time and it was them opening for Husker Du in Newport, KY (across the river from Cincy) They were better than Mould and Co that night and Bob knew it. He would push them and talk about them in RS / Spin.

If I remember correctly, Pavitt had them set up to join SUB POP but it fell apart as did Squirelbait soon after.

I had a pretty cool moment last weekend. I was sitting at a light in Laguna Beach with the top down listening to Tape from California when a kid holding his skateboard asked me what was playing. He said, "That shit's the burn". lol I had that same epiphany when I heard MC5 singing Kick Out the Jams. Love those full circle moments.
