Irish looked slow on the floor for most of the night and shot worse.

Cold weather?

Road weary?

A young team just got even younger. Westbeld is going to see more PT.

Rumors circulating that she and ND coaches didn't agree on her play/their style of coaching. Take your pick.

I have NO confirmation.

I suspected grades earlier tonight when I heard she had not made the trip to Miami as a semester was just concluded. But was that didn't make sense after looking at the UND Academic Calender. If academic eligibility was an issue it should have also been an issue for the Syracuse game.

.... after watching quite a few games both this year and last, I think it's possible that Reimer is not as good as SHE thinks she is.

Just speculation [and thereby close to worthless], but she could not "star" with the Bell Cows we had on last year's team, but "now's her chance", and instead along comes Turner, with Jewell still the star and Allen taking more initiatives.

Muffet would naturally like to give Allen and Loyd "room" to drive [I would anyway], and ask the bigs to not always be clogging the lane but also sharing the space. I've noticed that Turner tends to post up less than she basket hangs, and therefore is the recipient of the scoring opportunity on the "cute" extra pass [many times from Reimer or whoever received the entry]. Maybe she wants to strongly post up low and shoot more. {like lots of modern posts, she is required by pattern to rotate to the top of the key as a ball-reversal and high screener option lots of the time --- whereas Turner seems not to do this as much.}

... regardless, you don't want to lose bigs whether first or second team ones. So this will hurt in a lot of ways.

Update on Reimer: Team spokesperson says she is "still a member of the team". Her status for Sunday's game (vs BC, 1 pm) is uncertain.

Peter Byrne is Sports Director at WSBT, South Bend. He's an ND grad, Communications '99, and a member of the Monogram Club.

"Still a member of the team"

The only thing I get out of that is ND has NOT pulled the plug. But has Reimer?

McGraw discusses Reimer's absence | Sports - WSBT.com

Carl Deffenbaugh
POSTED: 02:01 PM EST Jan 10, 2015 UPDATED: 02:05 PM EST Jan 10, 2015

For the first time since Taya Reimer left the Notre Dame women's basketball team, and just over 24 hours before the Irish host Boston College, head coach Muffet McGraw was asked if she expects her starting forward to play against the Eagles.

"I'm hopeful," McGraw said Saturday. "But it's going to be her decision."

"She's still part of the team," the coach added. "She is taking some time off to think about some things personally. And we're hoping to have her back this weekend."
