Yeah, he just had his in-home. Mora is a fantastic recruiter and sells the "glitz" of UCLA incredibly well. All flash, no substance... works great on 18 year olds.

I was half-way being facetious. I agree with your points, but it's not like Kelly can sell recruits on winning football games. Mora can, albeit many of UCLA's games were fugly.

Truth, ours were fugly too. We just came out on the wrong end. Our two records were a few bounces away from being reversed. Just gotta hope this kid is smart enough to see that. Plus, you have to figure UCLA is not going to be as good without Hundley next year.

Mora is sleazy bro. He showed up on the St. John Bosco campus without even checking in with admin just to talk to a recruit. He constantly berates the USC campus to try to sway recruits only to have his own daughter go there. She is currently attending USC right now. He also has an annual purge of players they at he deems are busts, like Kylie Fitts, some due to injury and some due to just being a bust. Their are other stories that I have heard that may or may not be true as well that adds to his sleaziness.

But let's use Kylie Fitts as an example of his sleaze. Kylie Fitts was asked by Lane Kiffin to not enroll early because of an apparent hand and knee injury and would not have been able to participate in spring ball and they needed the numbers to practice. So he goes to UCLA, oh by the way somehow got free UCLA basketball tickets.

But here is where it gets sleezy. Fitts attends UCLA with the notion that he will close to his family (very religious) and he can play football. Mora knowingly puts Fitts out there with his injuries in spring and during his first season of football. Fitts gets hurt and is not the same guy. Since Fitts is not as capable as he once was and not effective, Mora convinces him to transfer, thus his annual purge, bam Fitts is gone, used and abused. He convinced him to go to UCLA and convinced him to leave as well. He also played him despite his injuries. Class act.

Anyways, it's not really relevant. But Mora wins about 90% of recruiting battles with ND and it's because he's a phenomenal salesman who also puts in tremendous legwork.

He has consistently whipped up on ND in recruiting battles and done it with hustle and a sense of urgency. It helps that A. Jones is already on the West Coast but how freaking smart was Mora to schedule that in-home immediately after the banquet visit. He was able to quickly squash any good feelings that might have been built from the visit, counterpoint anything ND said and got his word in edge wise right away which is now what Alize has most fresh to think about. This guy Mora just wants it more then ND.

Something to follow here is that UCLA might be put in a tough situation. They have Chris Clark (TE) coming for an OV and some think that UCLA will end up being the team to beat. If they view Alize as flinching, they may end up allowing Chris Clark to commit and ultimately pushing Jones to ND. They are pitching the two playing together but I don't see Alize wanting to do that especially as tight as this race is already. There is some speculation with this but also some substance. Something to follow.

This is true + going to school with Fertitta he would have easy trips back home. It is great to know ND still has an in home left after Mora stole our momentum. C'mon Alize!!!
