Does anyone know how the year in JC impacts his eligibility? Does he have 4 years to play 3?

Per Loy his visit this weekend is up in the air and they don't expect him to make it. His father is quoted as saying "there's a good chance they don't make the trip."

Weber cancels, Smith cancels, hoping that Ronald Jones is getting the Blake Barnett treatment in that we're not touching another RB and Jones has said he's coming to ND.

FWIW, the BGI board has been going crazy with the Ron to USC crap since they posted that Scott S CB'd him to USC. Obviously douchebag69 over there is getting everybody prepared because he's been calling Ron to USC forever. So Loy had a fairly long post yesterday where he broke everything down. At the end of the post he stated that their sources are saying he's been all ND for a couple of weeks now. So just like every year around this time we have two polar opposite stories and will have to see what happens.

How are the stories opposed? What if Ron was "all ND" until he took his trip to SC. Not very complicated?

Hope they both end up Irish!

So Fresno City College or Notre Dame are his options, I could make that crystal ball prediction with no inside info.
He put up 1735 yds and 17 tds on 8.5 ypc in JC last year and had 3 fumbles on 205 rushes.

Agreed - check out his shirt- All Fresno City!

Jones is not going to USC. We have Adams, will get Jones and then try to close on Soso.

With Soso drifting towards UCLA, Bryant/Folston rumors of possible failed tests, Smith and Weber suddenly cancelling their OVs to ND... It's would be too conveniently horrible for Jones to have silently committed to USC.

Therefore, I fully expect it to be true.

Is there a reason for his sudden possible cancellation? I can't imagine he just decided ND wasn't for him, given that it seemed like he was all set to commit this week.

ND hasn't offered and weren't sure they were. TJ indicated Weber and Smith not visiting is not a bad thing. Seemed to infer bigger fish are being reeled in.

Bigger than 6'2 225? Are we recruiting Henry to transfer?

Sounds good to me. This recruiting strategy has paid dividends over the past few years. Also, with our running game prowess, what elite back wouldn't want to come to the Bend??

We've slow played so many people and end up getting no one....

BTW Smith's dad wants him on a college campus in January. No way that happens at ND. This just isn't a good fit.

Jordan Westerkamp, Marcus Rios, Joe Bolden, Enoch Smith, and Sam Hubbard off the top of my head

I was referring to this year. As to those players you listed they aren't exactly difference makers. We didn't slow play Westerkamp, he had been a Nebraska commit before we got involved. We don't lack for quality receivers. ND was never really high on Smith or Bolden. They didn't slow play Hubbard, they just didn't recruit him hard.

That's what Loy is putting out. Now that doesn't have to be true but that's what he's insinuating. Just in general Loy seems pretty confident in us finishing this class in what most would consider very good fashion. We'll see what happens, this weekend is huge.

I was gonna say if we're passing here there has to be some high confidence level with another back.

“We are excited. Notre Dame has a platform and a brand of higher learning that we want to learn more about. It is a great opportunity for my son and what more can a parent actually wish for? Having an institution of higher learning like Notre Dame, wanting your son to come play football for them is just great. I am blown away.”When the family arrives in South Bend next weekend, both of Smith’s mothers will be paying close attention to how Notre Dame sets their student-athletes up to succeed in the classroom. Williams, a Notre Dame fan, is excited for the trip and understands that if offered, his son may end up having a great opportunity that would be hard for Smith to turn down.
“Both of his mothers and I definitely want to check out the academic side of things,” Smith said. “They are both very intrigued by Notre Dame and then they believe football will take care of itself after academics. We trust the coaches because they have been doing that for years and we just want our son to succeed academically too. An education and a degree from Notre Dame, that’s something you can’t put a price on. Notre Dame is a grand stage for academics.
“I have been a Notre Dame fan for a long time even though I live down here in LSU and SEC country. I take a lot of beef, but the academic side of Notre Dame there is nothing but great things to say.”

Comments from his dad less than a week ago. What the hell changed between then and now?
