I hate the Marlins. Based on how they operate I would guess they will sign a couple free agents to huge contracts as well then trade everyone before the All Star break.

I actually hope this cripples that team. They can't fill the stadium barley half full most of the time. They play in a good area and no one comes to that ugly place.

No way Stanton doesn't opt out after yr 6. He'll be 31, just in time for his last big contract. Further, I wouldn't be surprised if this contract isn't heavily back-loaded, despite the $25 mil AAV. Fuggin Loria doesn't spend money unless he has to. The real amount he gives Stanton will be nowhere near $325 mil, IMO.

On a different note, I bet Heyward leads off for StL. They already talked about getting Marp in the 3 hole, but they didn't have someone servicable to replace his spot in the lineup.

ETA:

So, yeah, heavy, heavy backload. Still a shit-load of cabbage, tho'.

Heyward, Wong and Carp at the top would be nice, in any combination. Still think Carp leads off though his postseason power surge could make him a better #3 hitter.

Not sure about Carlos at #5 starter though it is worth taking a flyer on at the moment.

Be interested to see what else STL does this offseason.

Porcello for Cespedes

Absolute steal for the Red Sox. smh Tigers.

As a Tigers fan. It's a coin flip. Will you get what he was the first half of last year, or the other seasons he's pitched. I like him and wish we could kept him. But there are other holes to fill.

I have 3-4 good friends who are diehard Tigers fans and they are really pissed off lol.

Any Tiger fans around that can give some details on Porcello? I don't know too much about him...apparently he had a pretty decent season last year, before then not so much.

Cespedes can hit the laces off a mediocre fastball and a hanging breaking ball. He really needs to shorten up that swing to hit good pitching though. And playing in a big ballpark isn't going to help.

Redsox need more pitching, still...The AL BEast eats up pitching.

Fenway is funny big...if that makes sense. Right center field is monster, no pun intended. Pop ups in left leave the yard, bombs hit the wall. 420 in close to center field I've seen take plenty of HRs away too.

Porcello is a ground ball pitcher. Pedroia will have fun. Doesn't matter how big the ballpark is. He doesn't give up too many fly balls.

Yea I love Fenway just glad my team doesn't play there. I like the odd shaped fields better then the traditional ones.

I am going to miss Kemp that's for sure but I trust the new front office unlike other dodger fans. Next year will be interesting that's for sure.

Kemp was paid way to much to be a average fielder and a good hitter. I think he is going to struggle in Petco.

Appreciate the feedback bud. I do like that he feeds ground balls.

I am a diehard Tigers fan myself. I am not sad to see him leave. I just never trusted him.

Pretty spot in. I think as a fan, and the organization, we're just kinda done with him. He wasn't horrible and the first half of last year he was like 12-2. The end of the year he slower down a bit. But the problem for us is he was started so young and nobody was patient for him to work thru starting in the big leagues at such a young age. I watched him give up 9 runs in the first inning at home to Texas 2 years back. It was not good. Once he starts to lose it, he can't regain it that game.

That, plus he never showed any fire. It was like he was just out there. Never really liked him. What non tigers fans don't realize is that I will take an all-star outfielder that was DESPERATELY needed this coming year.

Was he keeping the ball up in the second half? Ground ball pitchers have natural sink to their ball...but when tired tends to stay up and get hit hard, really hard.

He was 12-2 to start I believe and something sub 2 on the ERA and finished with a 15-13 record and 3.43 ERA. In 2013 he was 13-8 which is not bad, but his ERA was 4.32. But, our offense scored more last year. This year we struggled at times down the stretch.

Well, that is a little promising. BoSox infield up the middle is better defensively which I'd think should help...although Dustin is bound to lose a step soon. I know is any rotation lead by Clay Buchholz is scary.

The biggest thing to see is if he can handle the pressure of moving from the 5th starter up in the rotation.

Redsox are full of 4-5 starters...he should be fine. At least he is not Jake Peavy. I'm really hoping Matterson steps up.

That is true that the run support wasn't there. I do believe he wore down a bit. I just wished he would have shown some fire.
