How was a civilian plan cleared to get close to a stadium for people to see. Im just assuming anyways that you'd need clearance from someone to get close to a populated event. Am I wrong? Only seems logical lol

I believe the FAA's TFR is a 3 mile radius from a stadium.

Interesting note that Coward Cowturd (oops, i meant, Colin Cowherd) brought up was the idea of Florida going after Chip Kelly...so I Google'd it just to check and see the legitimacy of his assertion, and the story appears to have some legs that go all the way back to when Chip was at Oregon and Urban left UF.....

Just think that'd be an interesting hire if by the small chance it comes to fruition....dont know why he'd leave the NFL tho....

The other notion being floated is that Mullen and the current Florida AD aren't the best of friends, so Mullen to Florida isn't a given.....and that maybe Rich Rod would be a candidate in front of Mullen....don't know if RR would be the greatest hire anyways, especially when the majority of fans want Mullen and would be forced to settle for RR....that could be the perfect storm for a Michigan moment all over again for RR.....

I would have given more credence to that thought if Chip was struggling in the NFL but he seems to be doing just fine at the level.

Sounds like Cowherd reads Sports Illustrated. The SI article I posted yesterday in this thread (post #142) goes into detail on Mullen and some of his assistants and their parting from UF. It also makes the case that RichRod might be more palatable to the AD. It's a worthwhile read.

I guess Cowherd's talking points are outsourced LOL....it is a good read...glad SI can be a reliable source for Cowherd to opine upon....and the thing is, is that they were acting like he was breaking news of some kind (playing some breaking news type of music in the background; while he vehemently denied he was breaking any news....pretty lame skit, imo) Better to read, then watching Cowherd's skit while opining on the subject.

Doesn't Chip have a show-cause against him from the ncaa? When does that expire?

Yes he does. It expires on 12/25/14 just in time for the January recruiting push. I imagine some schools might pass on him because of ethics and image. Then there's Miami.

Rich Rod would be great for UF so long as he leaves his D behind. The O is perfect for the SEC, the D is not.

Durkin and UFs Defense is just fine minus this years recruiting class troubles. An offensive oriented hc like RR could be dirty......

i could see steve spurrier going back to uf
Eh I don't see it.

I doubt he would leave Philly but Chip Kelly would be a grand slam hire for Florida. He would almost instantly make them contenders again. Rich Rod would do well as well i believe.

Frank Beamers teams any more suck. Time to change in the VT nation.

Mike London and recruiting services have killed Virginia Tech. Mike London because even though UVA is no good he's still able to steal a couple 5 stars every year from the 757 that all used to go to Tech. Recruiting services because more and more Virginia talent gets exposure each year now and they're simply not going to beat out major national programs for most kids. They made bank on grabbing zero star kids with four star talent.

Spurrier's name has been mentioned whenever there's a vacancy at UF. I don't see him returning either.

Chip Kelly seems like a plug-in.

Rodriguez would be in over his head at UF. Throughout his career, WVU. UM, AZi, he's been an 8 win or less coach, except for 3 seasons at WVU with a franchise QB. He exited badly from Morgantown and generated animosity at UM. Second tier schools out of prime time seem better suited to him than a big time gig.

I suspect his demeanor would be a better fit at Miami than UF.

Don't know exactly where yet, but I'd bet David Cutcliffe, Ed Orgeron and Lane Kiffin all have new head coaching jobs by February.

Other than Kiffin making Saban visibly angry on the sidelines a couple times I have a hard time believing he will leave for anywhere right now. His lastHC positions have been awful. I doubt anyone gives him full reign of a program, especially a big time program.

If I was him, I would learn all I could about defense from Saban and hone his play calling with all that talent.

The way he left the NFL, not sure any want to jump at him. Besides, he's never really proven himself to be some offensive wizard to the point that the NFL wants to bring his baggage around. He needs to just settle into a place for a few years, stay quiet, and work hard.

That's what he should do, but Lane has a history of making poor decisions. Who knows? Maybe he's ready to grow up.

With the close lose to ND and win over once beaten GT, Larry Fedora's seat was cooling a tad but today they're down 14-0 in the 1Q at UVA. The Wahoos have outgained the Heels 141 yds to 12.

I's early but the boos would be deafening at home.

Fedora's Heels bounce back with 14 quick points to tie it up. If only he had a defense.

Heels outscored UVA 28-15 after spotting them 14 1Q points. He may well save his job just in time for the NCAA to hammer the program. If Heels split last 4 with Miami, Pitt, Duke and NCS they're bowl eligible.

Most of the non-Michigan fans savoring the schadenfreude of the Hoke era missed the true significant of "The Stake" stuck in the turf at Spartan Stadium.

Contrary to the apology that Hoke publicly issued, it was not about team motivation as Hoke spun it. That team leader acted in the best interest of the team by strategically placing The Stake where Hoke could fall on it in pre-game ritual Wolverine seppuku. Once again Brady failed to execute the game plan.

Brady Hoke issues apology for stake incident at Michigan State - CBSSports.com

“I want to publicly apologize to Coach Dantonio as well as the players and supporters of Michigan State for our act of poor sportsmanship displayed pre-game yesterday," said Hoke in a statement. "I spoke with Mark earlier today and expressed to him that we meant no disrespect to his team.

"During our regular Friday night team meeting, one of the topics presented to motivate our team was a history lesson addressing commitment and teamwork in a tough environment. A tent stake was presented to the team as a symbol of this concept. The stake was brought into our locker room as a visual reminder, and one of our team leaders chose to take it out on the field.

"As the leader of our football program, I take full responsibility for the actions of our team. We believe in displaying a high level of respect at the University of Michigan and unfortunately that was not reflected by this action prior to kickoff.”
