I keep thinking that, but we literally say that every year about the next year out, lol.
Except a five-star recruit is already committed and ND legitimately leads for two others.

Plus it helps that the Midwest, Ohio specifically, has the best crop of talent in years and Michigan is in no position to take their usual share.

When Wiltfong makes a statement that he thinks ND has a great chance to sign the #1 class in 2016, that's definitely different then prior years.

Class of 2016 four-star wide receiver Donnie Corley has seen his recruiting process blow up recently with new offers coming in from Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan and LSU. However, it might be Michigan State that holds the early lead here. Corley has two senior teammates who are committed to the Spartans, plus with Michigan State offering before this recent flood of offers, he has already developed a nice relationship with the coaching staff who has shown him early that he will be a priority. Corley and current 2016 wide receiver commitment Cameron Chambers would be an awesome 1-2 punch for the Spartans.

WR Donnie Corley, Jr., Detroit King (Mich.)
OFFENSIVE MVP - Multiple offer guy came and showed he deserved it. Camp coaches say he looked bigger and better than last year.

Performance: Coming off a junior season in which he recorded 1,087 receiving yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions on defense, Corley continued to show his playmaking ability at Sunday's camp. The 6-foot-2, 187-pound receiver continues to put to rest any questions about his speed, accelerating past defensive backs with ease. He also shows the knack for the highlight-reel catch, elevating over two defensive backs to pull in a fingertip grab on one particular play in 7-on-7.

Is expected to be at Junior Day on the 31st. ND, OSU, MSU, UM is the expected group that will get looks. However both ND and MSU think they lead here. Really really like this kid and would make losing Mack a lot easier to handle.

Made his final 5. Nice. No Hairball, nicer.

Good news/bad news situation. Bad news, he said that he considered committing to OSU over the weekend on his visit. Hung out with Austin Mack while there. Good news, obviously left uncommitted.

After watching his tape I have a few thoughts.

His reported 4.28 either doesn't exist or does not translate into break away speed (or there are 10 DB's in Detroit metro area on that tape that ND needs to be looking at) He does get all the separation he needs quickly though so who knows. You just expect more top end speed and complete break away domination when you hear Rocket type 40 times.

Looks like he plays a nice CB at 6-2. LSU offered so I tend to believe it. I'm not much for looking at offer sheets but if there is anything more impressive than a TE getting an offer from ND, it's a DB getting an offer from LSU... especially one from Detroit.

Hairball has so far been shushed.

As of this moment forward I'm on the raid Michigan for Hayes and Corley bandwagon.

Save a spot for me, I think both could be tremendous players.

So the Sunday Junior day was cancelled but some are coming to campus today including Corley. He's coming with his father and HC. Prior to the trip he told Loy that OSU, Michigan, and MSU are recruiting him the hardest. He gets a lot of mail from the coaches but doesn't speak to them a lot. Tenn. Comes by the school a lot, he says every week and that stands out to him. He's really hoping with this visit that our staff will pick up the pace of his recruitment. He will be deciding in July so he these visits are important.

Here is what is probally going on here and it's happened before. We may only take 1-2 WR if that in next year's class. Our top guy is most likely Mack from Fort Wayne so we are slow playing this kid when he most likely would be coming here if we picked up the pressure. OSU will end up sweeping up and taking both.

I'll take Corley today over Mack tomorrow. If Mack wants in at the end, there's always room for a 5 star with some creative accounting.
