Hoke has $3 million dollar buyout through Dec 31st. On January 1, his buyout drops to $2 million.

Currently 2-3, 0-1. Here's their schedule:

Aug 30 W 52 - 14 APLST
Sep 6 L 31 - 0 at ND
Sep 13 W 34 - 10 MIAOH
Sep 20 L 26 - 10 UTAH
Sep 27 L 30 - 14 MINN

Oct 4 at RUT
Oct 11 PSU
Sat Oct 25 at MSU
Sat Nov 1 IND
Sat Nov 8 at NW
Sat Nov 22 MD
Sat Nov 29 at OSU

As Hoke believes they can still win the Championship (he didn't specify The NC, The BIG, or The BIG East. UM's currently last in the BIG East) why would the school want to fire him? Yeah, right. I don't see the team responding to him OR to Mattison or any interim coach for the rest of the season. They have a QB issue among other things, an interim coach isn't going to resolve in the next 8 weeks.

Unless they can hire "Gruden" or whatever other perennial messiah is immediately available I don't see the benefit except for the satisfaction of firing him now. They are still going to lose games.

IF they wait until the end of the season they might as well wait until Jan 1. Recruiting is going to be a mess but they only lose 2 weeks of contact time.

They also have the issue of their AD Brandon. If their going to fire you AD do that now. Then have the new AD do his search in the dead period and bring in your next coach in January. That combination could put some excitement and energy into their January recruiting to salvage the class.

Next week UM goes to RU. According to this past week's Sagarin Ratings MIN was about 3.5 pts better than RU but they had to play in Ann Arbor which gave 4+ pts to UM.

UM at RU is probably a similar degree of toughness. RU lost 13-10 to PSU.

Obviously a must win but not the walkover anticipated preseason.

Those getting some relief from the heat this week:

UF's Muschamp getting the vote of confidence from his AD that he wouldn't be fired before the season is done.

AF's Troy Calhoun with a 28-14 win over Boise St.

NW's Pat Fitzgerald gets some relief with a 29-6 win over PSU.

CSU's Jim McElwain upset BC on the road.

Akron's Terry Bowden got his biggest win in 3 seasons. First year 1-11, last year 5-7, this year 2-2.

FIU's Ron Turner with a win over a UAB. Hey it's a win.

It went to double overtime but Hawaii's Norm Chow did not lose to Bye.

UVA's London beat up Kent St by 32. Doesn't everybody?

Cal's Dykes got a win but it was over Colorado in double OT. Is that help?

WSU's Leach caught Utah still celebrating 28-27.

Heating Up

Hoke.

KU's Charlie Weis had no schematic advantage at all in a 23-0 loss to UTX. And UTX has been struggling with numerous player dismissals.

ISU's Rhodes only lost by 21 to Baylor

BSU's Bryan Harsin losing to Air Force via 7 turnovers.

PU's Hazell with a loss to Iowa but only by 14 points.

ILL's Beckman got rolled by the Huskers 45-14.

USM's Monken lost to formerly winless Rice.

IU's Wilson lost by 3 TDs to BIG newbie UMD whipping out his Mizzou attaboy. I doubt the IU fans by the trap game argument.

NMSt's Martin was Tiger Bait, 63-7.

Pitt's Paul Chryst losing to Akron. The Zips!

Idaho's Paul Petrino lost to SOUTH Alabama. That's as about remote as Idaho.

Ark's Bielema almost beat A&M if they hadn't blown it. Hog fans aren't happy.

CU's fell to 6-12 losing in Double OT.

NM's Davie fell to Fresno.

Honeymooners Whipple at UMass and Martin at MOH both fell to 0-5 while UCon's Diaco fell to 1-4

Michigan 3-8 in last 11 games.

Five 16 point losses in last 11 games.

Lost 4 of last 6 at home.

Is 1-8 in last 9 games against Power 5 opponents.

Can we just move to a "Power 4 + MSU" model now please? OH! I know he's not on the hot seat, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to say "FUCK JAMES FRANKLIN" !!!

Hoke should be fired for his handling of the Shane Morris injury during the game. The kid is clearly concussed and limping and he keeps the kid in.Time for Hoke to go.

All a matter of time. In the meantime, enjoy Hoke while we still can. Pretty soon all we'll have are the funny sound bytes and videos from the last few years.

Hard to see how Brandon survives this. As BGIF suggested, whack Brandon soon. Bring in a new AD and start looking. Ride out Hoke until Jan. 1 to save a million. You won't get a Harbaugh or Les Miles until January anyway.

I tend to think Al Golden's seat in Miami is getting warm. The Hurricanes drop to 3-3 after losing to Georgia Tech.

I'd like to think that the goose egg that scUM laid in South Bend set them up for their current slide and they're still trying to recover. That's most likely not the case, but...fuck Michigan.

Week 7

Week 7

Hoke is a 1 favorite over PSU at home. Will his furniture get moved at halftime?

Beckman and ILL are 25.5 dogs to WIS on the road.

Rhodes and ISU are 3 pt favs over Toledo at home.

Al Golden -14 has Cincy at home.

Dana Holgorsen -6 over Kingsburys Red Raiders in Lubbock. Lucky for Holgorsen, suspended CB Daryl Worley charged with grabbing a woman by the throat and shoving her to the ground last month didn't get the 6 month sentence the prosecutor recommended when the prosecutor permitted the defense's request for suspended sentence. The following day he was re-instated on the team. Nice audible, coach. Worley had 17 tackles and 2 Ints in the 3 games he played in before suspension.

Muschamp's Gators are 1.5 pt dogs to Les Miles in Gainsville. Muschamp needs Driskle to find his way.

Hazell's PU 3 TD dog to Sparty in W.Lafayette.

Wilson's up and down Hoosiers' are 3.5 dogs in Iowa City.

Bielema's Hawgs are +10 at home at Saban's Low Tide.

Fedora's Heels +16.5 in South Bend should get crushed. The weather should be fair but the Heels D gives up 42 ppg including 29 to Jerry Falwell's Liberty College. 124th in Scoring D, 93rd in Rushing D, 186 ypg, 124th in Passing D, 319 ypg, and 120th in Total D, 506 ypg. Heels are 34th in Scoring O at 36 ppg.

Butch Jones and the Vols get a reprieve against Chattanooga in a NL buy game.

Taggart's USF's Bulls are 15 dogs at home to ECU.

Yes. They haven't been there long but are there signs of viable life? They may not get fired this year but the they are circling the drain.

Fedora was 8-4, then 7-6, and right now he's 2-3 giving up 42 pts/game with ND, GT, UVA, MIA, Pitt, Duke, and NCS left. ND is the only strong team there and UNC could go 0-7. There only wins are Liberty College and SDS by 4 pts. UNC had academic issues but they apparently can't play defense either. This is year 3 at UNC for him.

Hazell is 4-14 in two years. They beat WMU then lost to CMU by 3 TDs. Lost to ND by 2 TDs then beat SIL. Lost to IA by 3 TDs then beat a bad ILL. They have MSU, MINN, NEB, WIS, NW, and IU. Do you see more than 2 wins there? I can see 0-6 depending on Indiana. One can say going from 1-11 (the win was FCS IN St) to 3 and 9 is improvement? Is one maybe two (IU) BIG wins in 2 years making the administration. Hope was fired after 4 years and 22 wins. Hazell needs 18 wins in the next two and half years to catch Hope's miserable record.

Jones is only in his second year at UTN but last year's 5-7 record was ominously similar to Dooley's 15- 21 record in 3 years. Jones won 2 SEC games last year and will be lucky to do that they year. They beat Utah St soundly in the opener then beat Ark St. (wow!). Got ripped by OU by 24. Lost to UGA in a close game, 3 pts, then lost to UF in a closer game, 1 pt. Is UTN losing closer or just still finding ways to lose games? They blew a 9 pt second half lead over a stumbling Gator team. After an ego boosting blowout against Chattanooga this week, they get back to reality the next week against Ole Miss, then Bama, Spurrier, UK, Mizzou, and Vandy. Outside of hapless Vandy who are they going to beat. They're in 6th place in a 7 team division. I think they have 6th locked up. 4-8 maybe 5-7 sound like another Dooley year. This is a program that has won 68% of their games. Jones and Dooley have been winning 41% of their games. Kiffen is looking better.

Completely disagree on Jones.

There's a lot of hope in Nashville based on the way his team is competing in games and how he's recruiting. He almost beat Georgia with basically all freshman.

I have not heard anything about ppl being dissatisfied with Butch Jones. He is playing 20-something freshmen, everyone there understands the situation he came into after Dooley. There have been clear signs of improvement under him. If he still has a losing record in two years then yeah, he will be in trouble. Right now? Not at all.

I would give Hazell, at least, one more year. Purdue was a dumpster fire when he got there. I don't even think Saban would be doing much better right now if he was at Purdue

I think people are worried Butch Jones leaves Tennessee, not that they're going to fire him.

Greyhammer is a closet Tennessee fan and mentioned this.

People loved Dooley for a year and a half, 2 years or so too. The hope with Jones is similar to when Dooley was at the helm as well-- we're young, but we're gonna be good in a year...or two.

Seeing the georgia and florida losses seemed, to me at least, that tennessee found ways to lose those games. That became the constant theme with Dooley. Dooley started out recruiting well also.

The swollen, diseased ball sack that is the sec east began a few years ago. Dooley got to play in that loser of a division and now Jones does. The state of Tennessee had a great year, talent-wise, at the high school level last year. Will that trend continue? Jones sure hopes so. But the state doesn't consistently put out a ton of talent.

I personally think Jones is better than Dooley. But similarities between the program with the each coach are certainly there.

talent is getting there but i def agree...they lost the game to florida and not the florida won it and it was a pathetic game
