We are #9 in the AP. UCLA jumped us.

BS If ya ask me. Anyone who watched UCLA's first 3 games knows they aren't top 10 calibre. They showed ASU's weakness yesterday Is all

I'm with you on this! I usually don't care about polls but what in the **** are they watching? Both are undefeated and UCLA has looked horrible for every game but 1! Man I am pissed!

That's weird, a sports writer on Twitter had already reported we were still at #8 in the AP. Get the pitchforks!

Do not fear, UCLA is going to loose many games until this is over.

If we go undefeated into Tallahassee and beat them, we should jump into the top4 easily. There is not going to be many undefeated teams by the end of the season.

I prefer my UCLA women tight and not so loose.

At first I was a bit angry at the poll but then I realized, in 2 weeks, lot of things are going to change fast. If ND takes care of business against Standford and FSU, we will be in the top 5 no doubt.

Not too worried about losing 1 spot as long we're still top 10. If we take care of business we'll be in the top 4 easily by the end of October. Hell if we're undefeated having beaten a ranked Stanford and an "unconquered" FSU in Tallytrashy we might be #1 come November.

#8 in AP poll still
Still at #23 on Drew Sharp's ballot behind 3-2 South Carolina, 4-1 Washington, 3-1 USC (#17), and 3-1 Arizona State that was just demolished by UCLA by almost 40 points.

I want to know how the AP can allow this douche nozzle to continue to fill out a ballot...

Also ASU had their backup QB in the entire game.

But we did have 5 TO's.

The 5 t.o.'s shouldn't have any bearing on this! If anything we had 5? turnovers and still crushed them in every aspect of the game! Barring the beginning of the first half we looked good but sloppy at times. But in no way did we look as if we aren't better than the bruins..

If we are unlucky enough to have the Bruins win out and we don't beat ASU by a similar margin the pundits will be tough to listen to.

If we beat Stanford and FSU and not in the top 2 something is definitely gonna need a pacemaker! Nobody else will have done anything of the like all season...

Hhahahaha. Go look at Aub, Texas A&M schedules. SEC West bias or not, those teams are gonna play tough ass schedules.

Technically we should but knowing how biased poll rankings are, I can't see ND jumping over Oklahoma, Alabama and Oregon. They will find some bs reason to put ND down like they always try to do.

Well Alabama is will have gone through the SEC West and Oregon has a big win over Michigan State. Oklahoma would be the team without a marquee win.

True and I can't argue that. but to beat the #14 and #1FSU. If FSU stays that way, beating them in a 3 week period is tough and would give any SEC team a good run

I realize much will change in the next two weeks...but this UCLA thing tells you all you need to know about the chances a 1 loss ND team gets in...

In my opinion it is undefeated or nothing for ND.

If there is a one loss ND team the playoffs will be constructed with two SEC teams, and both might have a loss, a pack 12 who may have a loss, and Oklahoma.

It's way too early to be fretting about who is going to be in the playoffs. Way too much football left to be played. I highly doubt UCLA is going to run through undefeated. All of those SECW teams will cannibalize each other, Oregon still has to play a Stanford team they struggle against, etc.

I agree. It's odd. If we keep winning, we'll climb.

1ndfan, you point out that UCLA has looked bad in three games and that they should pay in the rankings for that. But we've looked very pedestrian for two games in a row, including the 5 turnover game. Why shouldn't that have a bearing on this?

If we keep willing, we'll climb. Just like in 2012. Just let things shake out.

Sure, I am just like the rest.. but I'll not stand by and say this years UCLA is better! I also won't say we're better than any SEC team in the top 10.
Perfection is an illusion, don't mind you... take it as you will

In addition, do ya think BK may? just may have been using these games to do things as if he was working things out?

College Football Playoff Forecast: Notre Dame - ESPN Video - ESPN
Matt Fortuna gives a pretty good breakdown of our road to the playoff and addresses our chances if we drop one. Basically he likes our chances if we're 11-1 and beat FSU and 2/3 of ASU, USC, and SU. Like he said if we do that by the end of the year we'll have beaten the ACC champ and would have a decent shot of beating the PAC-12 champ.
Another thing to think about is the fact that Oregon and UCLA play each other this year ,and Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, and TA&M will all play each other and cannibalize each other. So assuming we win out, Oregon wins out, and say Alabama ends up at the top of the heap in the SECW that would eliminate UCLA, FSU, TA&M, and Auburn who are ahead of us currently. Plus if Alabama incurs a loss we may jump ahead of them as well.

The point is there's so many games left to played it's impossible to know what is going to happen. Survive and advance is all we can do to make it easy on ourselves.

Just trying out those fumbles to see how they'll work?

Kelly quoted that earlier in the week and knew Syracuse would be trying to strip all night for an advantage. Gotta give the Cuse credit but we knew our weakness

I agree, partly. We'll definitely see different personnel groupings/plays/formations this week. There's no doubt in my mind that BK believed he could coast conservatively to 4-0 and then begin to fully show what the offense is capable of for Stanford. If we are able to add the suspended players back, this team will be rock solid through the next stretch of tough games.
