Stanford 2012 and UCLA 2006

Two of the happiest moments of my life (I was at both, Stanford as a Junior at ND).

Plus the beginning of this video is the best ND pump up there is:

1973 Sugar Bowl win over Alabama. A battle between two powers, two iconic coaches and of course a incredible outcome. Still get chills when I see Tom Clements chuck it from the end zone. Also having Howard Cosell in the booth made it seem like a heavyweight bout.

Remember that well. Al Hunter runs the KO back for a TD. Bama has negative rushing yards after the first quarter. Both teams missed PAT's in the game. Did you know Clements pass went to Robin Weber a backup TE. If I'm not mistaken this might have been the first reception of the year for Weber. Gutsy call by Ara, but one of the reasons he's my favorite.

Beating USC in 2012 to go to the championship game. It wasn't the game itself. It was what it symbolized.

ND-FSU 1993 and ND-UM 2014. Couldn't think of a better way to end a series.

I'm 31 so two games immediately pop in my head. 1993 vs FSU and ending the streak at USC in 2010. More to come later...

USC in 2010 and OU in 2012 where the two most recent times where I really just had disbelief that we had won. I never thought that SC streak would happen, and I just didn't think ND would ever be able to knock off a top team on the road like that.

2006 vs MSU? The big improbable comeback. The famous Applesauce choke rant from Mike Valenti afterwards. Delicious.

It was Weber's only catch of the year, you are correct.

This was the greatest win we have ever witnessed in the history of CFB! Lou was 'THE MAN'! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=feMTJVSiEgI&start=331&end=515.06&cid=3617605"></param><embed src="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=feMTJVSiEgI&start=331&end=515.06&cid=3617605" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I was at that one! Possibly the most euphoric moment of my life as I watched Shumate cross the goal line!

1977 Trojan Horse Game Beating USC

1978 Cotton Bowl beating Texas "The Irish Ran Wild" per SI and vaulted to Number 1

1973 Sugar Bowl over Bama and the Bear though will always be the best. Agree about the play out of the end zone - truly one representation of why Ara is the best of all the great ND coaches

Watching that 1977 green jersey game on YouTube right now! I was 8 when I saw it live on TV. Home crowd was super charged up when they came out in green with that big Trojan horse. BTW, the end zone had the leprechaun and "Fightin' Irish" painted in it.

P.S. One of my faves was the Joe Montana chicken soup bowl win

Oh and many of you guys are too damn young if all your Greatest wins in ND HISTORY occurred after 2000. Heck our last natty was 1988.

Hey man, show some love for those of us who haven't lived to see a national championship. Idk if I can describe the euphoria I felt when we finally made it to #1 in 2012 after the k state v Baylor and the Stanford v Oregon games. Every time I looked at that ranking for the next month and a half I teared up. I had never gotten to see that 1 beside our name. I will always remember walking out the door of my dorm (Keenan) and seeing the #1 on top of Grace lit up every night. I celebrated every time I saw that thing. To see us atop those rankings was all I wanted for my whole life as an ND football fan. Those of you who have witnessed the next big step (a natty) should count yourselves lucky! ... And old :)

Dude, I DO love you guys (#feels), and we have had some great games since Lou left. However, being an ND fan, I have seen and appreciate games before I was alive, or alive but not old enough to understand. That 1977 game was the year I started understanding football and with ND in my backyard and great, the green jersey game and Montana's time glows in my memory.

...thus my signature line...
