I was more impressed by that video than his entire previous year's highlight tape. He seems to have the "bend" that makes allows him to be agile in space, yet maintain his speed. The only negative I see is that he still doesn't look that physical, but is definitely a stud.

He has exceptional feet and agility and thats his game. He wants to make you miss not run over. He has a small frame at the current time but due to his height people have labled him a big back. Power is not his game. All these things are why I think he'll be great in a spread attack. He isn't going to have elite top end speed but he enough to break big runs.

He could play at 220 and keep his agility and speed which is more impressive. He literally can run over dbs and some rbs yet still out quick them. He also has exceptional vision.

I'm going to be killed for this but that film was the least impressive 500 yard game I could imagine :)

I was hoping he ran more Peterson esque given the similarities in height/build but he's not great at breaking tackles. His team opened up massive holes for him. I still want him and think he'd be great in our offense but I was really expecting some great tape from that game.

He's not what would be expected for his height/weight but his film grew on me. He is a bigger Greg Bryant in the fact that Greg Bryant does not try and run you over like expected. They are exceptionally quick and great at cutting. Soso can finish a play but that is not his calling card. Watch the way he reads wholes and cuts through them. This is what makes him exceptional. He reminds me a little of TJ Yeldon who wont run you over unless he has to but has exceptional vision. Plus you could put him in the slot and he is a great WR where you cannot really tell that he is a rb.

If Adrian Peterson is the measuring stick we're using to evaluate RBs, we're never going to be happy.

Agreed, a RB can still be good without being as good as Peterson. Peterson is a beast and one of a kind. Soso looked great and will be more than fine at the college level if he plays like that.

He will also get one of the best position coaches in college to teach him.

Ha ha. I never said, "Jamabo isn't as good as Peterson so I don't want him", I said he didn't have the Peterson-esque game that I expected given his frame.

Let me re-phrase for those not following: In those highlights Jamabo didn't run over people, didn't break many tackles and flat out didn't look that impressive.

The video was of poor quality so it was hard for me to tell what kind of acceleration he has so I won't comment but let's hope he has all the other attributes to make a good RB:

Vision
High Acceleration
Cutting ability
And at least decent top-end speed

Normally those skills are reserved for the scatbacks and shorter players, I was simply expecting a different RB when I started watching the film.

If everyone was blown away by the highlights, then great. It looked like outmanned competition and Mariah Carey-sized holes.

I still want him on the team, I still believe he is a great player but his game is different than I expected.

**Upon re-watching, he definitely broke more tackles than I remembered.

Veritate,
I think Soso is a phenomenal athlete, he has great vision and has a ton of athleticism for his size. With that being said, his style seems to be less a slam dunk, and more of a finger roll. Although he does just run through some arm tackles. Would be ecstatic if he went Golden.

there was an update on tunnel vision ...anyone got it???

Nothing we don't know. Soso and his family loved his trip and can see himself at ND. Tom and Steve feel good with their prediction and the challenger is UCLA in their opinion. Soso will official to the Bruins October 10th.

Was the ISD intel worth anything?

Nothing earth shattering, basically an interview with Soso's dad and his thoughts from the visit which sounded like we blew him away. Soso will visit UCLA vs Oregon on October 11th and doesn't have a timeline for a decision yet but his dad said they don't want to draw out the process and also doesn't want to leave schools hanging so they can move on if necessary if they don't get Soso.

I'm still shocked that Soso runs a 4.6 he seems faster than that. I know people think 40 times do not matter yet he seems much faster than his time.

These High School 40 times are rarely accurate. The proof is that most of the guys that say they run a 4.5 in High School run a 4.6 and above in the NFL combines.

This. Read a long article about this, ie, the "regression" of sprint times from HS age to pro combine. Maybe the young man has an honest timer at this school.

I can remember the days when everyone was touted as running 4.3's. They don't even try to get away with that one anymore.

C'mon man, you know there is speed and then there is football speed. There is also quicker than fast, and faster than quick. There is wind aided and non-wind aided....there is also the SPARQ hand-timed and SPARQ digital... lol

I know we were going to get into this, but as a speed back I was just shocked at the number particularly because they usually give better times to kids in high school. I do love him as a prospect particularly his vision.

runs like GA3 to me

Don't mean to pick on you but the guys at II we're laughing at the couple people that said this and I agree. Him and GAIII have completely different games. GAIII is straight line speed with poor laterally movement, footwork, and stiff hips. Soso lacks straight line speed but can juke fools out of their shoes with exceptional feet and hips. There is a drill at camps, that stresses this, they put 1-2 LB's in a box basically (may have seen it with Coney) and it's the RB's job to stay in the box but get past them. Soso was winning those with ease. Perfect fit for our system.
