Couldn't access IE for more than 30 minutes tonight. Couldn't access IE last week, postgame, for awhile either. Although it was for less time than tonight.

Is there an internal site problem or something?

Even the IE server is doing celebratory shots

We hired a great guy who wasnt our first choice who everyone loves who fails to develop talent

we hired Tyrone Willingham

Meaning they have at least 1 more terrible hire in them!

I'm absolutely speechless about the game. So proud of our Fighting Irish to EMBARRESS U of M. I honestly didn't expect anything like that. ND won on both sides of the ball. Our secondary made huge leaps in one week IMO.

I think it's fair to say Brady Hoke is officially on the hot seat.

GO IRISH!

As far as post game observations go, I mostly agree with what's been said already-- Golson looked good, D looked good, OL was good in pass pro, but bad in the run game, RB's and/or OL didn't look good, the drops sucked.

The only new info I can add is on the defensive side. I can't quite put my finger on their play. They definitely looked good tonight, but maybe not outstanding. I think the same thing can be said about their performance last week (minus 3 or 4 plays). Maybe it is the fact that this year, ND can send 20+ or so guys out there that all can really play. There's not a drop off in play or performance. Also, I think the change in scheme to BVG from BD, helps. The sub packages and substitutions, while prevalent, almost seem unnoticeable from a performance standpoint. All the defenders seem able to literally give 100% while they're in the game due to their freshness. And I think this is maintainable throughout the season. I think it may be difficult for opponents to watch film and scheme against the ND defense when they're sending so many players onto the field. It's tough to tell a college QB to key in on 3 or 4 different CB's, 3 or 4 different Safety's, etc. Same goes with the OL when there are 3 or 4 different DL lining up against them. Hopefully it becomes information overload for them.

On the defense: Yes, we've got depth out the wazoo. I loved seeing Hill, Cage, Trumbetti in there tonight making plays, and know that two of our best front seven players (Ishaq and Grace) weren't even in the lineup. I do worry a bit about a lack of top-end playmakers (aside from Jaylon, of course). But we've got so much depth that I think the best players will develop and we'll have fresh legs to throw in all game.

That was a clean hit. Pick six to end a beat down for the ages was the all time best finish.

I dunno if it was a clean hit, exactly, but was the sort of thing that happens all the time on interceptions. Everyone's changing flow all at once, and you've got guys who don't normally block blocking guys who don't normally tackle. If it wasn't on the QB, it probly wouldn't have been called.

Mgoblog is priceless tonight. Already discussing coaching candidates and looking at Saban, Harbaugh, Miles, Sumlin, and Tressel. Amazing.

We've got 'em at every level of our defense. Day on DL, Jaylon at LB, KvR (soon) at CB. Redfield should be joining that list soon as well.

For those concerned about the running game:

An impressive stat likely to get lost? Kelly calling 31 runs, often into loaded fronts. Shumate too. Anyhow, who complains about a lack of playmakers after the d had four turnovers and a pick six where Gardner got blasted to close out one of the worst beat downs by ND in michigan football history?

Funny both of my brothers, who are MSU fans, believe they brought in Doug Nussmeier, I'm not sure about that but you never know.

I spoke to SEVERAL of my Michigan friends, and they think Brady Hoke is finished.

They going to Kiffin him? Maybe make him hitch hike back from Mishawaka? Lol

Shumate's a ballplayer. So's KVR when he's playing. All I'm saying is we don't have pass rushers the caliber of Tuitt and Shembo right now. Day's a warrior, he's just not the sort to take over a game. Others may develop. THat said, right now, we've got enough guys to rush in there as a group to contain a QB like Gardner, and force him into mistakes. Go us.

Notre Dame whooped Michigan. Virginia Tech whooped Ohio St.

This is a good night. I have enjoyed it... quite a bit, to be honest.

Just a great night. That's all I have to say.

I disagree. Tuitt was fat and dogging it for the first half of last season. Hill and Trumbetti both look better than Shembo as a freshman. Cage and Jones looked solid in the middle. Utopo played great too. Once Rochell settles in I would take this unit all day every day with Sheldon Day leading the charge. They are going to murder Purdue:

How much beer can I consume celebrating this win? The correct answer is more than what's still in my fridge, somehow.

- Running game didn't get many chances and give scUM credit, they have a very good front 4.
- Prosise has to catch the DAMN ball! Fuller dropped a few as well, but he made up for that and then some.
- Golson looked outstanding, even under pressure. He was never flustered and kept his eyes downfield. Simply outstanding.
- Carlisle is definitely our best receiver so far. Hoping to get Daniels back soon, but I'm not complaining with Carlisle at the top.
- Our defense is SEVERELY underrated. Funchess got his numbers, but they made scUM's life a living hell tonight. Gardner was constantly under duress and forced quite a few turnovers. Outside of 1 big play I believe, they kept the "bend but don't break" philosophy from Diaco's days and added the much needed fire from Fist-Pump BVG.
- We'll eat Purdue for breakfast.

I'm kind of drunk. Was it Williams or Hill that was getting it? Or both?

And of course Lou has us in his CFP bracket. #2

I mean, I'd make an argument towards being in a CFP bracket right now. We have won two games by 31, one against a team that won 10 games last year and one against Michigan. Right now, not very many teams have a resume that stacks up against ND's. The thing is that it's early so it's essentially meaningless to do right now.
