What a damn shame that would be and a waste of talent.

Yeah. I wouldn't pay any attention to that article. It's a dishonest attempt to bash us for the alleged dishonesty of a few individuals. Why could it "potentially rock the football program to its very core?" How could it "affect the status of head coach Brian Kelly and more?" The author doesn't say. Nor does he say why any of the allegations would affect Bilal's recruitment. It just looks bad, he says. Well no shit. So does rape and assault in AA, but that was conveniently left out.

The author also says there was a "big swing in the direction of Michigan" in the past few days, which is a lie. Two people changed their predictions over the weekend, one of them being the MGoBlog editor. Two people is a big swing? This guy doesn't know anything more than any of us.

Bilal told Wiltfong that he spoke to Mattison on Thursday over the phone and then he reached out to Elston on Sunday. So he's initiating some of the contact with the Irish staff himself. There's some positivity for you.

If we were to loose Hilliard to OSU and Bilal to scUM that would be awful. All the more reason to put a wooping on them in a few weeks.

I don't want to lose Bilal or Coney to anyone (even though we don't have either right now). But, if we can get one I'm a happy guy.

Shouldn't be surprising that he's leaning Michigan. They have Greg Mattison, an elite DC and recruiter, all-in on him... whereas we have Mike Elston half-assing it.

Then throw on this PR disaster as the kicker... neg recruiting has never been easier. It was telling that he's not even sure if he wants to attend the ND-Michigan game.

This "scandal" is going to completely stop any recruiting momentum we have and give opponents insane amounts of neg recruiting ammunition. They can throw out all kinds of BS and it doesn't matter one iota if it's false.

This is just my opinion but Elliot and Elston don't seem like the best recruiters. We all know Diaco wasn't the best so it is frustrating. BVG likes to recruit and has gotten great players in the past so hopefully this new defense will impress recruits.

proof of this?

Bilal has noted that he's had to reach out to ND, not the other way around. My statement is a bit of an overstatement for sure, but we are getting outworked by Mattison a little.

Believe Bilal's coach has even made mention of this, stating Michigan has made him feel like a priority.

WTF is going on with our staff this year? If they're not half-assing it on the trail a little, the perception is certainly there. That can't all be just smoke. Very odd considering a couple of these kids were "slam dunks" at one time or another. Very frustrating to say the least.

I agree with the perception of being out worked. Not saying it is true but we have heard more than once that other schools are making recruits feel more important. It's almost as if they are recruiting like they don't plan on being here next year.

I think BK and staff feel if we have to pressure you then maybe you don't get it...it seems time and time again that recruits say that we encourage them to go through their visits etc and don't pressure them on visits which they state they like, HOWEVER that doesn't always seem to work because the car salesman approach approach strokes their egos and makes them feel more wanted

My informative guess at least I like to think...they are learning from past deflections

Is he questionable academically?

No not even remotely close from what's been stated about him by his coach. In some cases the approach (that Pandfan touched on) might be the right one but in this situation we should be all over this kid. I'll add that it's my opinion that if we were on him as much as UM is, he'd already be committed. I basically think that's what he's searching for from ND. His coach making those statements publicly are like "feelers". When this gets back to ND, will they step it up.

Then I wonder what they are doing with him. Seems odd.

The only thing that makes sense is the staff is still debating how many LB's to take this cycle and maybe training camp is changing the previously thought numbers.

Nah, fantastic student.

obviously others already pointed this out, however on Bill King show today, wiltfong stated he is 4.0 student. just further concrete evidence...wiltfong also stated that he has only every attended 1 college game illinios vs indiana and so he is watching games on youtube of both ND and Michigan to get more familiar...nothing earth shattering but stated he feels he will visit them at least 1 more time each

I have a simple solution to his recruitment and add some crystal balls our way...kick Michigan's ass.

That is against Cathedral, one class lower than BD and the rest of the Big Dogs...but legit (for the record in my HS days was 3-0 vs Cathedral).

Indy's high school game of the week.

Recruiting as if they aren't going to be here next year? Where do people come up with this crap. Perception is not reality. This staff is working as hard on recruiting as they always have. Did they not pull Crawford away from Michigan? Did they not pull Barajas away from PSU?

Cathedral is a favorite for the 5A title. Definitely a quality opponent.
