Because a big target like that is extremely valuable. He can be something serious if developed.

Something more then the other two WRs with equal talent and similar measures? No. If not for that reason, he'd be a take. You dont take 5 WRs in a class with what we have on campus, especially when three of them would be clones.

Not sure if I should wish for an offer or not? I guess it would be good to give him an offer because you just don't know how it with play out with ESB.

Just to expound upon this, on the 2015 roster we will have the following big bodied WRs:
  • Robinson - JR (6'4)
  • Brent - SO (6'3)
  • Boykin - FR (6'4)
  • St Brown - FR (6'5) [Hopefully...]

That does not including the TEs. That is a massive receiving corps, which will be filled in by guys like Breezy, Fuller, Holmes, Sanders, and Guyton. At this point, someone like Cager just doesn't fill a need, IMO. Even if we did not land ESB, I think the staff would be better off attempting to change Newsome's mind or taking Lovette than going after Cager.

Brent is 6'1. Brown is taller at 6'2

I was going off Brent's recruiting profile, which listed him at 6'3. You're right, though, the Spring Roster has him at 6'1.5". I have only seen St Brown listed at 6'4 or 6'5, though.

My mistake, I should have caught that! Also I didn't realize that CB was that tall; I always thought he was in the 5'10-6'0 range for some reason.

My earlier post neglected to mention Torii Jr and Prosise in next year's receiver corps. I can't think of a time in the post-Lou era that we've had that much receiving talent.

If Prosise gets it going this year, he is 6'1" and 220, at slot, watch out! We could put a configuration on the field with no receiver under 6'1" or less that 205-210!

"Lawrence Cager: Ohio State was my favorite team growing up, so I'm used to calling them (UM) the team up north"

Friday Night Lights: Moore Commitment, Conrad offer Highlights Recruiting Circus | Eleven Warriors

A lot of info here (Mack, Gibson, Konrad..)

Is Stacey Elliott (Ezekiel Elliot's dad) part of the staff or something like that? I always read that he is recruiting players to OSU and puts a lot of effort on that.

I guess we know who the leader is.

Per 247 Top 3 of OSU, Bama, and Notre Dame with OSU as a slight leader.

Will we have a hat on the table, LOL?

Per Lawrence Bama and ND are not far behind. All 3 will get OV's this fall. So we should at least get a shot if we want it. However, I don't see us moving on this until we get ESB on campus for his OV or he says no thanks.

Even if we are just a hat on the table it never is bad to be a name on the table for top recruits. It means they liked Notre Dame enough to consider in the top 3-5 and would likely say good things if asked.

I agree. He's not a priority and the staff likes ESB better for whatever the reasons, otherwise he would have had an offer a while back.

Scout: He still wants to visit. The 5 places he wants to see are OSU, Bama, VT, ND and Rutgers. Auburn and LSU are starting to pick up interest though. He's trying to figure out a visit schedule now (so far nothing has worked out with his dads schedule). Booker is going to watch him play a week from today.

Just speculation on my part, but...........
1. Is Booker visiting because they've heard something about ESB?
2. Is Booker visiting to see if he passes the mustard test to get an offer?
2. Seems almost like he really wants an ND offer just to say he has one. Especially since he has seven schools listed as favorites.
3. How can a school be in your top if you don't have an offer from them?

Like I said, just speculating.

I think Booker is visiting because because ND is on a bye week and Cager is one of the last few kids left on the board in Booker's recruiting area.

Apparently impressed Booker with his performance last night including the game winning touchdown catch. Booker told him and his father to call him on Sunday. Cager told Steve Hare that he's very interested in ND and has always been a fan. Also, he claims Ashton White as a good friend. With that said, the assumption is we'll have to offer soon to get in the mix.

-IMO, we've been holding out offering to show ESB how much we want him but I'm not sure how long we can continue to do that. Very similar to the Soso situation I would bet we offer.

Wouldn't bother me at all. I really like his tape.
