But it's coachable. Throwing a ball 70 yards isn't.

Only to an extent. If you don't have it, you don't have it. I'm not suggesting that's completely the case for Pass but id rather a guy who can throw 25 yd deep outs 40-50 on the fly, 30 yds across the field as he rolls out because that means he can read a defense. How many times you think were going to run legit "70" yd bombs? 1x? 3 tops?

Give me a kid with a strong arm and the above average ability to understand a defense over a kid with a booming arm and no real proof of consistently reading a defense

Have you ever thought that Pass has not been asked to read defenses yet? I am not saying he is better than Eason or Henry but just that he is not a big drop off from the 2.

If he can throw it 70 yards then I can only assume he can throw it 25, 40-50, and 30 yards. Didn't think that had to be spelled out. I just think writing off his ability to read defenses is silly as it's coachable but a strong arm isn't. Whether he picks up on it is another topic.

If BK wants him then by all means. I'm not the expert, he is so he likes what he sees.

Yea -- thats exactly what i thought and I believe that i stated that early in the thread. He has an intended receiver on every play where drops back and chucks it to that revceiver without really feeling out the defense. Thats a concern. Obviously theres no way to actually prove this but its noticeable difference when you compare the films of Eason and Henry. You can see decision making. Pass you dont see that.

You missed my point. Yes Pass can make those throws on arm strength alone but what about when theres 21 other players on the field? I only referenced the other routes because it shows that a player has the arm strength necessary to succeed rather than being a Jamarcus Russel type who can throw it million yards on his knee through the uprights. Tommy Rees couldnt make those throws on a consistent basis, his arm wasnt strong enough. Eason and Henry specifically have a stronger arm than Tommy. Their film shows the ability to throw multiple routes and showcases their arm strength in ways that isnt just how far can they can throw.

So essentially what i was saying is give me a guy with an above average arm who can make the necessary throws that a college QB has to make (the digs, outs, rollouts, etc) plus has the abiltiy to read a defense on a semi regular basis over a guy who has ridiculous arm strength but has not had the need/opportunity to read a defense on consistent basis (consistent basis is not the word im looking for but its along the lines of the system doesnt require him to pick a defense a part)

reading a defense is coach-able sure but you dont really know that until you sit down and do it. if a guys film shows him going through progressions then theres at least a presumption that he knows how to read a defense and can build upon that foundation.

i would be shocked if Pass is a take over Eason or Henry before either decide or they wrote us off. If BK accepts his commitment before them and shut down recruiting a QB then ill eat my crow

Bama offered at camp.

ND and OSU are still on top with Bama now #3.

Is it just me or does it seem like all the top 2016 QBs are ND and OSUs to lose. It is almost guaranteed that ND and OSU get a QB they want. Maybe I am just exaggerating things, but it seems as though the top QBs we are recruiting have ND and OSU at the top.

Pass and Henry are the only two I can think of that have ND and OSU at the top.

We are on top with Eason and we are doing well with Haskins and Paterson as well

I thought Henry and Patterson were our other 2 good options? Eason seemed to be slipping from the discussions in other threads.

they were convincing Eason that He still fits in our offense and he came away happy from what I remember it is us and Georgia

I thought one of you (as in STL, yourself, or LAX) had reported that?

Probably should have put from reading on this site

Just curious if you'd seen that somewhere that I had missed. If I had said that or given that impression I don't view that to be accurate. If today were NSD, I think Eason would sign with UGA/Stanford somewhere with a pro style offense. Kelly will need time to convince them that he can adapt his offense to his skillset if we feel thats the right way to go.

Top 3 of OSU, ND & Auburn.

He was salty that Auburn didn't offer sooner but says he's over it now.

3 perfect fits for him at QB

i'd love to see an auburn offense with a QB that can throw the ball

that offense would be absolutely lethal

Seems like a real blow to our chances. Not a lot of stud Georigia kids with a tier-1 SEC offer end up in South Bend. It happens sometimes, so we shall see!

ESPN has him labeled as a Pocket Passer and Henry as a Dual Threat. They are not big fans of him by the way, only #9 as a Pocket Passer QB.
