Agree. I'll tell you what... Jhonny Williams has more pass rushing upside than anyone we've recruited since '11. His technique, strength, etc. need a lot of of work and he might need a couple years to make an impact... but his closing speed and overall athletic ability is dreamy. He also has the frame (don't buy the listed 6'6" he's closer to 6'4" but it's still a solid frame) to probably beef up right around 255. He was criminally underrated based on poor competition and the fact that he was a very late bloomer.

I absolutely love all the potential pass rushers we got in '14... Blankenship might be most physically ready to play, Trumbetti might be a better fit for OLB than a true DE but is also crazy athletic, Hill is definitely more of a rush linebacker type of body than DE but his film is jaw dropping in terms of how violent he is with his hands and how disruptive he is. These four guys are all special and with the exception of Trumbetti didn't get nearly the accolades they deserved. Every single one is at least a mid/high 4:s: in my book. Loved our recruiting class last year.

Well said, this is why I'm so comfortable going all in on just a few high level guys at DE and playing the waiting game this cycle.

This kid is a big time player from one of the best football programs in the state of Georgia, Columbus Carver. Every school in the SEC would love to have this kid. Will be a star in college.

No.

ND is still the bride's maid for most elite players they recruit.

Half joking, lol.

You can't catch all the big fish, but you won't catch any if you don't try for them.

Careful, you're starting to sound like Koonja and once you get a reputation you can't get rid of it.

So he set up an official visit for no reason and commenting fighting irish for no reason lol? I believe there is a chance if he was all USC then why not try and get him to go there?

So he commented on a picture of the Fighting Irish by saying 'Fighting Irish' - and that means something big?

I love that the staff goes hard after these big fish, because we have nothing to lose, and we obviously make great impressions. But until we consistently win 10 games and/or beat marquee (southern) teams, we are not going to win these battles save for a rare Tuitt, Redfield.

I am glad that the Staff and university made an impression on Brown. But for him to still be thinking about it to means once again they did a great job putting us in position for another good prospect.

Probably for the free trip to see a game at ND Stadium.

How many recruits from LA have we pulled in the last 5 years when they only make an official visit and never come on their own dime?

Paging Mr. Swarbrick: ease up on the schedule bro.

No kidding, 5 ACC + USC, Stanford, Navy guarantees at least 2-3 elite opponents. That's as much as most schools play in their entire schedule. The next four should be varying degrees of easy with at least two being minor conference teams and one being a nearby opponent (Purdue, MSU, NW, Indiana, etc.)

As for Brown, I'm not sure if he's just having fun and trolling a bit (my guess) or if he's serious. But he DID have a good visit so who knows.

Just officials? No other visits? I know Redfield visited more than once. I don't remember about Troy.

I don't feel like digging, but Max committed to SC during the summer and had not visited ND. I'm quite sure that the Official really did it for him. Niklas was a very quiet recruitment, and only committed after his official to ND, which he took in late January or something like that. Maybe I'm wrong here, but here are 2 guys that we did a really good job on the visit.

I'm pretty sure Redfield only visited the one time for his OV. However he did have extensive communication with Kelly throughout his recruitment.

Prof on campus told me he visited a few weeks before that official. Visit flew under the radar. Nobody on here believed me, but I still believe. Like Santa Claus.

Anyway, that's 2 out of how many? Every year it happens where we get 4027625823619036 guys from So Cal to OV for the USC game or some shit and they never pan out.

I think that actually makes my point more than disproves it.

To me, it's still a success. You don't try? You don't get those 2 guys. I guess I am a big optimist. I firmly believe it's the only way one can be successful at anything.

Notre Dame is quite the special place, but it is not for every 16-17 years old in America. Therefore, you need to cast your net as wide as you can to catch the guys that belong.

EDIT: Just like you said in the post above.

I agree and it's worth it to bring those guys in for an OV in the rare case they love ND.

I'm just saying, don't get your hopes up because Iman is alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll trogan.

Yea, I edited. Saw your post after I posted...

I don't get my hopes up, but you never know is all. I stop getting deeply emotional about recruiting a long time ago. Right around the Aaron Lynch tragedy lol.
