Kemal Amin "Casey" Kasem (April 27, 1932 – June 15, 2014) was an American disc jockey, radio personality and actor, best known for being the host of the music radio programs American Top 40, American Top 20, and American Top 10 from 1970 until his retirement in 2009, and for providing the voice of Norville "Shaggy" Rogers in the Scooby-Doo franchise from 1969 to 1997, and again from 2002 until 2009.

If you didn't cry when Casey read his long distance dedications on his weekly countdown, you had no heart. There... I said it.

Tough situation for the man and his family at the end with all the bickering between them over whether to keep him alive or withhold treatment and let him go peacefully. All of us who are of a certain age grew up listening to him.

I used to listen to him on the American Top 40. It seemed liked every week he read a letter from a listener about someone close to them and they'd ask, "Casey could you play The Wings Beneath My Wings". I remember that happening often. He also did the voice of Robin on DC's Super Friends which was cool.

I didn't realize his wife was the blonde from Ghostbusters.
