Losing out to PSU is honestly more frustrating than just about any other team in the country. How anyone could want to go to school there is mind-boggling.

Pre-scandal it was a pretty enticing school to play football for.

Told Jake that he'll visit ND at some point this summer before his decision. I'll believe when he gets on campus. He's been a flake when it comes to visiting ND. I've officially moved on from this recruitment and don't view it as a huge loss, JMO.

I moved on too, quite awhile ago, actually. I'm not that high on him, but I'm no scout, so whatever, but guys that love the process as much as he does usually don't pan out for ND, so I've moved on. He reminds me of Jordan Peyton, the WR that ended up at UCLA. ND will always appear to be right in the thick things, but in the end I don't think he'll truly consider ND IMHO.

He is still planning on getting back to ND this summer.

He knows that his school is a pipeline school for ND and he hears about it everyday. The dean of students at his school is an alum and tells him about ND every day. He talks to Rashon Powers-Neal and his cousin (you were right GB) James Onwualu. He thinks the pipeline is a good thing and he hasn't forgotten about ND.

He still really wants to go to the same school as Hilliard.

Editorial note: I still say that ND could land him if the staff decides they really want him. Why aren't they going full court press? Two reasons.

One, he hasn't been and likely still isn't close to ready to commit. It would be a waste of effort and the staff would show its hand too soon. This kid is a top recruit who is enjoying the process. That's fine. But, it doesn't make sense to sell out in May or June on a kid that isn't ready to end the process.

Two, he isn't need in this class. He is a very good player, but there are other players who are very good and fit the scheme better, that the staff can pull with less effort. In short, the staff has other players equal to or ahead of him.

I know that stars are sexy and everyone is getting frustrated that we haven't landed a blue-chipper in a while but trust that the staff knows what it is doing. There are some blue-chip recruits that will choice ND in time and this will be another very good class. Is Cornell going to be a part of it? Maybe, but probably not. Is the staff going to lose sleep over it? Absolutely not. We just pulled three DTs in the last few days and now the staff can get picky down the road. Who knows, maybe in August or September Kelly decides to put on the full court press with Cornell and they land him. Hell, maybe Hilliard visits again, chooses ND, and then Hilliard does the job for the staff.

Seeing photos of Cornell at the SMSB camp talking to and surrounded by PSU coaches including Franklin or Jacques Patrick surrounded by UM coaches makes me wonder why we only sent LaFluer and McCarthy when originally we were supposed to send 6 coaches

Hasn't Cornell repeatedly said he is deciding in August though?

For his sake, I hope not. He's got a big enough name where coaches will hold out a spot for him, and if he commits he's going to be itching to take those OV's and enjoy the process even more. Kid should just hold off and ride it out. An August commitment is just screaming for a decommitment.

Yes he said he wants to commit to a school before his season. But also said after that he's probably still going to officially visit 5 schools. So August to me means nothing.

I'm trying to not read between the lines, because you really never know what a recruit's thinking. But the fact that he was scheduled to visit for the spring game and cancelled that day, and now is skipping II for PSU's barbecue doesn't sound good.

On the flip side, our guys are putting in work on him and Hilliard. If we get Hilliard, I think we have a great shot. If Hilliard commits to OSU, I wouldn't be surprised if Cornell didn't even visit us in July.

I'll add that the weight he supposedly lost is still there. He moves good for a kid that size but not as well as he did at 250. He's at least an SDE if not a DT. I like that he goes to these events, it shows a level of competitiveness. However, I would really think his body would be a bigger priority. Also Tiassum was putting in work for ND at SMSB.

I'm starting to find guys out there I like a lot more. Cornell really needs to focus on conditioning. I assume he's trying to put on bulk so he can convert it to good mass (not a totally uncommon approach to getting bigger), but he blew my socks off at 250 and now doesn't seem to have that kind of edge at the increased weight.

I've joined the growing "moved on" bus that seems to have gained some speed on this board.

Not moving on until Hilliard commits somewhere because it's going to have an impact on him

A big reason for my moving on has to do with numbers. 3 DT's on board now. I see Jashon more as 3-4 DE/4-3 swing, DE-DT guy. I'd love for the staff to go out and land a stud true DE, and if there's another swing guy they take, I hope it's Kaumatule. No clue if the staff can actually land him though. So just not seeing much of a fit, numbers-wise.

Add in what we perceive as kind of Cornell's love of the recruiting game, and I've moved on.

I mean I guess I wouldn't be upset if he ended up Irish (the staff always calls me to get my opinion about such matters, btw), but I just don't see much of a fit anymore when it comes to scholarship numbers, scheme, and personality.

I've moved on yet here I am, posting in this thread that I've moved on from. I mean, this guy loves recruiting and the attention too much, which is why I'm moving on. Not a huge need for ND at this moment-good to see that he knows the ND Cretin pipeline, but the UM and OSU stuff-sheesh. Time to move on from this guy and wait until closer to NSD. That's the time to put the full court press on this guy, but until then, I'm moving on.

Rumors on a few Michigan and pOSU boards that Michigan has told Cornell that they don't have room. They are going to have a small class this year and supposedly aren't recruiting DT which they believe Cornell has/will grow into. It is only a rumor, nothing confirmed.

ND lands several linemen and scUM tells him no thanks. Makes you wonder if he may change his mind and announce soon fearing he may not land at any of his favorites?
