We have threads for alcohol, TV, music, and so on but I didn't see a thread dedicated to cigars. I'm no aficionado, but I've started to dabble a little more.

A few questions to get conversation rolling:

What are your favorites? Do you have a good place to buy cigars? What's your favorite occasion to light one? Does your wife/girlfriend complain about your cigar breath? What do you drink with your favorite cigar?

Has all the talk about Monica Lewinsky in the news inspired a new thread?

Hey all.

New poster, long time follower.

Here are some of my favorites:

Rocky Patel- Cameroon, Connecticut
Cain- Daytona, Straight Ligero,
Drew Estates- Liga Privada No 9, Herrera Esteli, Undercrown
Gurkha- Ghost, Dragon

Some of those are more of a splurge/special occasion cigar. Others are a pretty good normal smoke. You typically can't go wrong with those brands in general.

Best cigars I ever had were cognac dipped ones from Camp Scania, Iraq.

I tried the CLE Plus tonight. It's a full bodied Toro (6 x 54). Usually I stay with medium bodied Robustos, but I tried this on a recommendation from the cigar shop. It had a great draw and a very full flavor...a little more than I hoped for tonight. Still an excellent cigar.

The FDA in its mighty benevolence and omniscience has decreed that it will now regulate "premium" cigars in an effort to curb underage smoking. If the FDA unilaterally expands its authority, premium cigars will be taxed an additional $10 per cigar and online orders will be banned. This threatens not only the cigar aficionado, but also the novice smoker and small enterprise. To use language language from administrative law, it's an arbitrary and capricious exercise of regulatory power.

I would encourage any and all cigar smokers on IE to voice your opinion in the notice and comment section of the regulations here.

How in the world have I missed this thread? I have been a enthusiast and collector for quite awhile. I have always thought about starting a thread on cigars but now don't know where to begin.

Favorites:

Cuban: (I will dive into this topic in detail if need be, but if you claim to have smoked a Cuban on vacation or know a guy...it is 99% assured you did not smoke a true habana.)
Top 3:
Bolivar , Partagas , and Trinidad are my favorites and 80% of what I smoke

Non cuban top 3:
Anything by Dion Giolito
Tatuaje
Padron 26,64

Favorite place to buy:

Non Cubans :
Cigarbid(very addictive if new to cigars )
New havana cigars
Holts
Famous smoke
Serious cigars
Cigars international
Atlantic cigars

Cuban that are the real deal...ahhh maybe pm me...

Favorite occasion : not below 40 degrees and not above 100 degrees :)

Does my wife complain?
Not at all. I always clean up afterwards though...

What do I drink while enjoying a cigar?
- keep it light...heavy scotch and bourbon is a huge mistake. You will miss the flavors of the cigar and whisky. White wine, beer, cola, sprite, champagne are all good.

Anyway that's a start...

On the deck with a cigar and while perusing IE I remembered this thread. Why not revive it I thought...I will try to post from time to time what is smoking good.

Tonight a Por Laranaga PC from 90 miles south of Miami . Great smoke as always and when it is done the charcoal is always ready...cheers!
