I wonder how the bowl committees feel about an 8 game format? It seems to me that one objection would be time constraints. An 8 game playoff format would push into December, which puts pressure on the mid tier bowls. Also, there could be duplication in the major bowls (Orange, Rose) if its going to be mostly conference champs playing each other in the round of 8. It seems like there would have to be significant logistical shuffling to avoid having the same match-ups happen in the CFB post-season.

Go to eight teams - the five major conference champs ( league champ game or not ) and then three at-large bids. If you aren't one of the three... oh well. #winmoreoften

It's so obvious. And it makes conference championship games very meaningful.

Pat Haden stepping down.

It was my understanding that he was one of the few on the committee that has respect for ND and would fight for them. Not sure how true that is, but if so, ND's chances of ever getting into the playoffs just got a lot harder.

I don't understand why ADs are on the committee to begin with. Seems counterproductive to have a bias-ridden panel.

Another tweet said Oliver Luck stepped down too. Anyone else hearing the same?

What's up with the committee dropping like flies a week prior to the polls coming out? Apparently, Haden's is health-related (he collapsed at the ND game if anyone didn't know that).

I'm going to go on record and say I hate the selection committee set up. Later, when anyone says I'm just mad that ND did not get in the playoff, remember this post. Why have a subjective (biased) panel pick the four teams instead of just expanding the field and using a combination of polls to determine an 8-team playoff. It begs controversy each year.

I thought Luck dropped out last year?

exactly.
I'm going to withhold judgment until the first few rankings come out. I want to see how the committee handles losses and/or close wins first.

8 games will be coming at some point, it's just a matter of time. Each year until it happens there will be some controversy, but ultimately it'll be money that drives the discussion and brings us 8. "But won't there still be controversy for whoever is ranked #9?" After 8, as T-Town said, "you need to win more games." 8 allows all five Power 5 champs in, and then 3 spots for any Group of 5 Cindarellas and/or whoever went 11-1 in the SEC West and lost to Alabama, cause SEC.
