Welcome to the Irish Sam. Work your way into a full ride. This could be a player that get us to 85 if we have any defections.

Bush to walk on Schmidt's path

Really good article on Sam. Kid loves ND and will be great for the program regardless of contributions on the field. A couple quotes from the article:

“I’ve been a diehard Notre Dame fan since before I can remember,” Bush said. “I’ve been a lifelong Domer. When I got this opportunity it was kind of a no-brainer. Since I was probably eight years old, I don’t remember not watching Notre Dame every Saturday. I don’t remember the last time I’ve missed a Notre Dame game."

“The only thing I told [BK] was, ‘Coach, my name is Sam Bush and I’m the biggest Notre Dame fan from Southern California that you’ll ever meet,’” Bush remembered. “That’s where my heart’s been since I can remember."

“When I told [my dad] that Notre Dame just called me and wanted me as a preferred walk-on, he and I both burst into tears,” Bush said. “I was squatting down in the hallway of the hotel at Princeton, just crying out of pure joy. This is a lifelong dream I’ve been working for.”

Really happy for the kid, hope he earns a scholarship.

I sometimes think we forget about the type of blessing the opportunity to attend this great university can be. Just being able to attend and graduate from Notre Dame is a great accomplishment. The fact that this kid will be able to play on this team is just icing on the cake.

A tremendous accomplishment by someone that seems to be a great kid.

I'll be watching Sam and hoping for the best. I'd love it if he were good enough to see meaningful minutes. Given our OL recruiting, that'd be a monumental achievement.

Sometimes kids understand they need a support system to help them through college. It always makes me smile when a kid gets the chance to have the support system of ND Football!

You have done so many great things in your life as such a young person to get that opportunity. It is more difficult than an axtual scholarship, I believe.

Congrats and good luck!

What a good kid. Show that to the entitled kids, with big egos to remind them its a privilege to play college ball.
