I didn't intend to comment on the "parenting style" debate. Was simply amused that you and wizards seemed to be gearing up for an argument, and then it quickly became apparent that you both probably agree about quite a bit on this subject.

When it really comes down to it, there is very little a child can do while they are young to cause the parents to completely turn their backs when the child needs help.

“Decision made. WNE U class of 2018 BME Major w/ 56,000$ scholarship,” she posted Saturday. It was removed by Tuesday.

In an email to USA Today, a WNEU spokesman said that merit scholarships run between $22,000 and $66,000 and are granted over the course of four years.

Quick update on this story, the local paper reported that Rachel Canning (the girl that initiated the suit which was the original basis of this tread) alleges she was assaulted by her boyfriend (the one her parents did not want her to see) and has gotten a temporary restraining order against him. The boyfriend is accused of "choking her with his hands during a quarrel". Canning did not file a criminal complaint so no charges were filed against the boyfriend.
