Silver did great work in baseball before he turned his focus to politics, so I'm interested to see how this works. But fivethirtyeight is an odd name for a sports site.

i dont think this is going to be a "sports site" per se....should remain in essence what it was and do what it always has done, only on what appears to be a wider scale and not just within the ny times and silvers personal twitter, blog etc...appears as if site is to be standalone and under the abc news and espn "umbrellas" (to provide greater reach?)

i find it refreshing that they leave out opinion (99% of the time anyway) and rely on and report on facts, data, stats and provide conclusions, predictions and outcomes based on all of it. those guys sure know their data.

seems to me they are going for a sort of "drudgerpeport based on data not opinion" (if that makes sense)

could be pretty cool...could be boring as hell :)

Yeah, after he and Keith Woolner left Baseball Prospectus I stopped paying attention.
