Who do guys miss the most from last years team?

Stovall's ability to stretch the field and go up and get it would get my vote slightly over Hoyte.... But it's close...

What do you guys think..

Tough call, but I also would go with Stovall. Slightly ahead of Fasano. Carlson may catch the ball well, (with 3 of NDs best pitch&catch plays of the year) but he's not the complete player that Fasano is.

Excellent point... Carlson is not the blocker Fasano was...

Dan Stevenson. Not that he was all world, but you can't argue that last year's interior line wasn't better than this year's so far.

And Stovall. He worked and played harder than this year's two starting WR's combined. And he corrected quite of few of Quinn's overthrows.

D.J. Fitzpatrick. If we would have had him in the Tech game I could have saved me an ulcer.

Stovall. It's really nice to have someone be able to just out jump a defender for a deep ball or a fade route. He could also bail out an overthrow.

Hoyte he was the team leader both on the field and in the lockeroom....he is the reason why we went 9-3 last year.

Perhaps instead of who do you miss the most, a more apt title might be who does the TEAM miss the most.

Based on performance to date, Stevenson and Levoir.

If you had asked me preseason I would not have thought of either one. After watching replays of the first 3 games no position is feeling the loss of players more than the OLine.

With stability in the OLine, Quinn gets time to throw without running for his life and Darius is rolling up the yards. If the difference was due primarily to the absence of Stovall (which would improve receiving) and/or Fasano, the running game would still be up to snuff. It isn't.

The absence of the LBs is obvious but we'd be controlling time of possession and scoring more offensive points with a stable OLine.

I miss last year's Brady Quinn and the offense from last year.

I'm not sure why others aren't seeing this.

I see it. Brady's running for his life and Darius can't get a hole to run through. Our line misses those guys tremendously. As a result, I don't think Brady has stopped moving his feet yet. It's obvious he doesn't trust this line right now. If he did, he would settle down and stop overthrowing and underthrowing receivers. You can fix alot of things, but you can't fix a talent defiency which appears to be the problem along the line. I don't remember Brady ever going down this much last year. There are still 9 games left, so I want settle on the talent defiency yet. I'm a strong lean though. They were supposed to be a "veteran line" who gelled as a result of their time together. What they've turned out to be so far is the weak link of the team. I do miss Stovall though. I miss him alot. Rhema is a good receiver, but Stovall's height allowed him to go up and get balls that normal size receivers either can't catch or have trouble catching.

The problem though I see is that the mistakes we are having on the line have nothing to do with lack of talent its stuff that is technique and discpline that these guys either have not been taught or have not corrected. That is a coaching issue...sure you're gonna get whipped throughout a game because your less talented but being able to pick up blitzes and shift over and help are technique.

Brady just doesn't have a sense of calmness while in the pocket like he did last year. There were plenty of times last year that Quinn was getting pressure and he just seemed to be more calm and sidestep a blitz or whatever. Last year he reminded me of Tom Brady in the pocket. This year a blitz comes and the guy just loses his mind. He's absolutely all over the place.

He really started doing that in the Ohio State game....I think that game did more damage on him mentally then physically.

yeah, I don't understand what's going on with him right now. His pocket presence for the most part has been less than desirable. He's was good from the second qtr on against Tech. He was good for the latter part of the 2nd qtr and the 3rd against PSU. Against Mich, he just looked plain awful. I hope he can put a whole game together Saturday. We're going to need it. When teams blitzed last year, Brady killed them. The blitzes are not that much different than what we saw last year, and he's throwing it all over the place. It's disappointing, but they have time to get it together.

no doubt. It all comes down to confidence and right now his is a little shaken. CW needs to take responsibility and start making BQ believe in himself again. If not, wheels are coming off in a hurry.

i think we miss rashon powers-neal the most. i know he barely played last year, but we would have won both the msu game and the usc game last year if we had him. and we would be 3-0 with him now too

He was an important piece to the puzzle. We did miss him. He would have gotten the 3rd and 1's and he probably wouldn't have fumbled on the one. He definitely would have helped this year, but he only played like 3 or 4 games last year. Oh well, they better bring it tomorrow. I want to see some fire and emotion.
