Martin and Troy are going through their workout today. Watt is not due to injury.

Atkinson will be doing the bench press, TJ will not

Shembo, Nix and Tuitt are doing their measurements today.

Going to sound like a broken record. This should have been his playing weight all season. Smh

probably a smart move on his part either way...everyone seems to run faster 40's at their pro day so there's no use putting up a bad number, especially if you're not ready

those numbers don't look too impressive for niklas...doesn't seem to be wowing them with athleticism

Troy never was a truly great athlete. He's got great size and does a lot of things well. He performed as I expected he would. Although, I did expect more than 27 reps

Plus, he also had a slight groin injury..

was hoping for a little better than a 30" vertical leap

Yeah that would have been nice, but think about how tall a 30" vertical makes Niklas. He is already 6'6"+ then add the 30". Not many guys will out jump him for the ball.

You were?

Magic Johnson had a 30 inch vertical. For frame of reference...

magic was one of, if not the, most skilled players of all time, but saying he had elite athletic skills would simply be incorrect.

yes i was hoping for more from Troy

The best vertical from last years nba pre draft combine was 38 inches, and those are some of the best leapers in sports.

According to ESPN, the avg NBA vertical is 28 inches.

Troy weighs 270 pounds. For a guy that is 6'6.5", with his wingspan, that means he can grab balls up to around 12 feet in the air. How much better did you want?

sorry 30" seems very average to me....if he wanted to work his way higher up draft boards this was the type of test he was going to need to wow the evaluators b/c i don't see him being able to do so in the speed and agility categories

Well, its not. The five year average for TE's in the combine is 33.5 inches, but the average height is 6'4" and average weight is 252.

Troy is 6'6.5" and did a 30" jump. Which means its average. That being said, he is also 20 pounds heavier than the average.

You may feel like its very average. But a 270 pound dude grabbing balls 12' out of the air is far from average. There aren't many dudes in the NFL that can do that. He's not Calvin Johnson, he's a freaking TE.

Events for today:

Bjax measurements (ht. wt. arm, hand)

Shembo, tuitt and Nix bench press

Atkinson and Jones full on field workouts. Both expected to run 40, after we went 0/3 yesterday

That's correct -- a longer humerus means the same weight produces more torque on the pec muscle, meaning you can't do as many reps.
