I think overall the 2013 football team is going to be better than 2012, but it might not necessarily show in the record. Our D-Line is going to be absolutely nasty, our LBs overall should be better, although Te'o will be missed, and our secondary will look strong returning 3 of four starters and possibly Slaughter. Offensively we our returning 3 offensive linemen, Tai-ler Jones and Davaris Daniels who have balled tonight, and most importantly, Everett Golson. He is absolutely going to ball out next year. It will be fun.

Temple W
Michigan W
Purdue W
Michigan State W
Oklahoma W
AZ State W
USC W
Air Force W
Navy W
Pitt W
BYU W
Stanford L.

Another great year. Go Irish. I couldn't be prouder of our boys.

I don't want people to think that I am upset with this team and pissed about the outcome of this game by starting it before the game is even over. I am disappointed, but I am still watching it even at this point. Golson is going to be incredible next year. bank on it.

People will point to the DL after this game, I point to the LB. Out of position, poor tackling. Russell needs to get bigger too. It seemed like they ran the first 10 plays to his side knowing he couldn't tackle Lacy.

I'm ready to move on to 2013 too. Bring on Temple. Back in the saddle. Love the Irish, can't wait to begin again.

Let's be honest. I absolutely love Te'o but he played absolutely horrible today. He missed more tackles than anyone in all honesty.

Louis Nix played awesome. I wish everyone played with his heart and intensity.

Fun season that exceeded all expectations. There are some holes to fill and areas to strengthen, but there are also a lot of guys coming back with some really good reinforcements on the way.

Disappointing way to end the season but it was a fun ride. Let's get to work on being better in 2013 and see what happens.

I know we're talking about the DL, but Motta had a hell of a game. And DD gets one of the game ball IMO.

Nix played with a ton of heart and it was good to see that.

That said, I think the aggressiveness of ND's DL really backfired. They got out of their lanes and allowed countless cutbacks. But hey, that is what happens when you feel you are out matched and there were a few advantages that Bama just tore apart.

If our 2013 recruiting class stays together, and 2014 heads in the direction that it is, Notre Dame and Alabama will be turning into a rivalry, I hope.

Honestly, 2013 might very well be a down year. A lot of things went right for us this year that might not in 2013.

Russell should never (almost never) needed to worry about tackling Lacy. The LB's sucked......Manti sucked tonight.

Great year.....****** game.

I think the 2013 team would beat the 2012 honestly, looking at it from here. Maybe I am just upset over the loss, but I think 2013 should be better.

Let's take into account, Cierre Wood very well could be coming back. I know he hasn't done much in big games, but he is still a more than capable running back.

Absolute Best Case scenario, our team will look pretty damn good.

QB- Golson
RB- Wood and Carlile
TE- Niklas and Koyack
WR- Jones
WR- Daniels
WR- Ferguson? Neal? Brown?
OL- Martin
OG- Watt
C- Hegarty???? Big if. Not sure
OG-Nick Martin?
OT-Lombard

DE- Tuitt
NT- Nix
DE- Day
OLB- Shembo
ILB- Fox
ILB- Calabrese or Grace
OLB- Spond
CB- Russell
CB- Jackson
S Farley
S Slaughter? Collinsworth.

This might not be our team, but it will look very similar to this.

Throw in some impact players like Ishaq, Redfield, Smith, and Bryant, it can be a really fun year.

Yes, but we will have a better offense and the defense should be just as good. We will not need as many breaks as the 2012 season.

I'd say he lost a cool million at least. He'll make it up on his second contract though. He's going to tear it up in the NFL. Hope he goes to Indy, Atlanta, or Denver.

He is needed to set the edge of the D. He got ran over and couldn't do it.

Blanton and Gary Gray were very good at doing this last year and Bjax is effective as well. KR is just too young and his lack of physical growth (which will come) showed tonight.

A bunch of question marks. We lucked out a lot this year. Pitt missing the field goal, Stanford & USC goal line stands, Denard. Of course the D had a lot to do with it, but those breaks won't always fall out way. I doubt the defense will be just as good without KLM and Te'o. I don't see a reason why the 2013 team will be better than 2012 on D.

Thank you, Me and You are the only ones saying Mota played good.

Thing is, he shouldn't have had to play that well. For him to have 14 tackles is absurd. Not a good sign.

In pass coverage, he was decent. But sometimes he took bad lines.

Whatever. I love ND. I'm on another planet right now.

I would tend to agree with this. I doubt the D has the same numbers or impact in 2013, but I believe the offense takes a giant leap forward. Give Golson 8+ months of expanding his knowledge of Kelly's offense, coupled with Wood/GAIII/Carlisle/DD/Jones/Brown/Koyack (potential), and I like our offense a lot.

ND probably won't get the same breaks as 2012, but we are still owed something from the screw jobs in 2011. Could/should be undefeated heading into Palo Alto.

We don't have an incredibly tough schedule outside of Stanford looking at a glance.

MSU... PSH. No bell, no problem

Michigan? Gardner doesn't scare me, but its a rivalry game. Could be a L

Oklahoma will not be as good next year.

USC? Lane Kiffin coached. Lane freakin Kiffin.

Stanford is by far our toughest game. Could decide who plays in the championship for a second straight season. Kind of crazy to think about.

Did they get lucky? Yeah they got lucky, but they scrapped and clawed with a RS Freshman QB and at times bad offense. Will the defense be as good? Probably not, but the offense will get better. Also oh yeah we have a staff that can develop it's players now.

I thought the general agreement before this season started was 2013 would be the year to make a run.

I thought the general agreement before this season started was 2013 would be the year to make a run.

That was when Prestwood was a student and Hegarty and Nichols were healthy. Keep in mind that ND in '13 won't have Bullard who would have been a 5th OL, or 4th year OLs Matt James, or even Troy Nicklas who went from OL to LB to TE.

Hegarty being 100% would be a help, actually a necessity but the lack of other upperclassemen OLs hurts. We'll still be playing with more like a core of 6 OLs rather than 2+ full OLines.

Despite the OL haul of the recent classes they won't be 4 and 5 yr OLs next year. We'll have some but not the dominant OLine WITH depth that helps a championship team. Look at Alabama's OLine.

So I went out for lunch and I thought of something that Wilber Marshall Chicago Bears LB said when the Bears lost to the 49ers in 84 NFC title game. In the locker room to the team "picked your heads up! I'm upset like the rest of you. BUT understand this. NEXT YEAR WE ARE NOT JUST GONNA KNOCK ON THE DOOR, NEXT YEAR WE ARE GOING TO KICK THE (PROFANITY) DOOR DOWN! Bears won the Super Bowl the next year.

Lets Go ND! LETS KICKED DAMN DOOR DOWN!
