He's a junior. And I think he has 3 things working against him:

1) We're stacked at TE and we're taking 2 this cycle (so we may only take 1 next cycle)
2) He underperformed at camp
3) That performance put other TEs ahead of him on the board (like Aliz'e Jones and Devonaire Clarington)

I mean I want him to get an offer, but from what I've heard at home he's got some work to do.

Ironically, this time a recruit doesn't have any work to do in the classroom. Let's see when we say that again.

Not being a smart ars, but if he's under performed, then why would you want him now?

He goes to the high school I went to. I can't ever remember a football player being a national recruit. That's why. It's just kinda cool. Plus he's a good kid that would represent the University well. I also think he's still developing and could still be a productive player in 3-4 years from now.

Hale's team plays for the Class 4 state championship tomorrow at the Edward Jones Dome. I'm not going, but I'll watch it on TV and hopefully post some updates regarding his performance.

O$U and FSU have offered since I last updated his profile. Even though he doesn't have the offers yet, I still believe its 1) ND 2) Stanford 3) Nebraska/Wisconsin 4) the field with O$U having the edge against the rest of his offers in this last tier.

This coming spring and summer will show how interested he really is in earning that ND or Stanford offer. We also might see some '15 TEs drop off the board and open a spot for him.

Is there no chance he'd move to a position other than TE? We're just so stacked there in the lower classes (assuming we land Luatua).

Seems like he fits the concept of big skill, and the '15 trend of not being from traditional ND areas (e.g. Tillery and Hoge).

I think he would. But TE will be his best position and that's what we're recruiting him for. But, like Buster said, he's pretty much prototypical "Big Skill" so he could make the switch to DE if he really fills out during his senior year.

On Helias' first drive he had a 5 yard catch on a quick slant and an excellent seal block on an off-tackle run.

He looks the part of a future college TE.

No. They were cancelled.

Webb City really turned it up on D and changed the way Helias played offense. Also, Helias lost an all-state C in the 2nd quarter and just didn't control the LOS well. Hale looked good at times, but his QB was scrambling a lot and didn't get his feet set to make throws - that didn't help.

Great motor on D, but not strong enough nor big enough to play 3-4 DE at the next level. His position is TE for sure. I didn't get to see much of his pass catching ability today but he did look better inline blocking than I remember.

And he looks like a legit 6'5" 230. I'll see him closer during basketball season to double check on that.

Updated for new rankings. Urbie and Wisconsin are making big pushes. My guess is Wisky is the leader with O$U number 2.

It's a slow recruiting day so I don't feel bad for bumping this thread. Stanford offered last week. I would look for them to move up his list.

He's visited Tennessee, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, and Oklahoma. And coaches from those schools have been on him pretty hard. I'd look for him to visit Stanford soon and I could see them being his #1 at that point.

I don't know if he's just not a priority since Luatua committed as an in-line TE or what but lots of other coaches are seeing something here. He's blowing up this offseason.
