Can anyone explain to me how the defense is going to magically stop the run? Are they going to load guys in the line of scrimmage? That won't work because Nd's secondary is weak and our recievers are fast. If you simply assume Henne will be as bad as he was last year, then I think you'll be in for a surprise.

I would like this "oh, it won't be much of a challenge," and "yeah, they're just like Penn State" crap to continue, because it's just this type of arrogance and complacency that will get your team in trouble.

It never ceases to amaze me how Nd fans think they're on top of the world and superior to everyone after a 9-3 season and a 2-0 start. Keep it up! And please continue to hype Jimmy Clausen while you're at it.

Here's the thing Vic.....we as fans do not have to respect you. Your program is ranked based on reputation every year. You finish 7-5 and get ranked in the Preseason TOP 15, but we're the overrated ones. As a fan, I can say anything I want. However, the team will not disregard you and will play you as if you are the No. 1 team in the nation. They are not discounting MI or overlooking them. Fans have no bearing on our team, because Charlie keeps them straight. Another thing, isn't Derrick Williams and Deon Butler fast? How'd that work out for them? One more thing 9-3 beats 7-5 anyday last time I checked. Our team will be focused and ready to play. Go Irish.

Vic, you aren't getting upset about our future QB who hasn't taken a college snap yet are you? Jesus man, worry about this year or you'll drive yourself crazy thinking about JC.

Oh, and for the record, I am superior to everyone.

I'm amazed how UM fans think they're better than us one year after going 7-5. Hmmm...you say we have arrogance? Doesn't take a smart person to add up wins and losses. I'm still amazed that UM is ranked as highly as they are.

But what does it matter if fans respect opponents or not? Fans have no bearing on the outcome of the game. Obviously CW and staff, and the players, respect the opponents week-in, week-out.

You don't think the thousands of Notre Dame faithful will have an effect on the game this weekend? Now that is absurd. Take all of the emotion from the stadium caused by these fans and you have a different game...pumping up your home team is just as important as a coach telling them they did a good job. It reassures them they are playing great ball or tells them they need to step it up.

Twice in the last decade, ND has gone not 7-5, but worse: 5-7 in 1999 and 2003. Didn't stop a single ND fan from thinking they were better than Michigan.

Bear in mind we were even worse than that in 2004 at 6-6, but we beat Michigan in 2005.

And keep in mind the number of times that the underdog has won in the other guy's house in this series over time.

NEVER take the Michigan game for granted.

That said, however... we know a lot more about Notre Dame after wins over Penn State and Georgia Tech that we know about Michigan after wins over Vandy and Directional Michigan Tech A&M. My money's on the Irish. But it'll be close.

Right. That's why ND fans were clamoring for a new coach, while UM fans found comfort in the bosom of Uncle Lloyd. We weren't very good for a few years there. If you think we ND fans didn't see that, you weren't paying attention.

That said, we did have some bright spots and winning more often than not against Michigan was one of them.

Ok? I think I was talking about fans on the internet. But really it doesn't matter whether fans at the game respect the opponent or not, either. They'll cheer at the right times either way, if their own team is good enough.

... To me this is a program moving in the right direction. They're not quite Northwestern-in-the-Rose-Bowl yet, but stranger things have happened

I'm sorry, I live in SEC country, and I care about these things...

Northwestern? That name rings a bell.

Are they the team that held Division 1aa New Hampshire to only 34 points?

And they were correct.

In that decade (of mediocrity), that you picked, Michigan was a mighty 3-4 against ND.

You lost 2 out of 3 to Willingham!

I wasn't gonna do this, but you leave me no {38-0) choice.

In a year of 7 losses, 3 - 30 points beatings, 2 shutouts, hell even Syracuse won by 26! Navy almost won losing by 3 as time expired and WSU lost by only 3 points in OT.

That's your juice? You won in a year when almost everyone else won?

Congratulations, you beat Willingham once in three tries!

Savor the moment.

Boston College was 3-0 against Ty.

Hey, can't help it that we have more class than Michigan or their fans. Reading the thread on reasons to hate Michigan goes to show why we're better than Michigan. We don't DUCK anyone!!

If I was the head coach at the University of Michigan, I would run the ball until people proved that they could stop me. I think this is going to be one long game for both teams.

Who is Michigan ducking?

Speaking of Ducks, I think you'll have to agree that last year's Oregon team deserved that Fiesta Bowl bid more than the Irish. And they could have done just as good a job at getting routed by tO$U.

Michigan ducked ND for years and now they're talking about not extending the series when it ends!!! Give me a break with Oregon. They couldn't even beat the "lesser" opponent they played with 4 losses (Oklahoma) in their bowl game. They didn't play anyone in their schedule either. Sure they beat 2 ranked opponents, but ND beat 3 ranked teams and took #1 USC to the brink of defeat, but lost on a cheat play at the end of the game where Leinart got pushed into the endzone (Oregon got destroyed by USC by the way).
