Agree. Looks pretty small/soft in the pic above compared to the "elite" guys at DT. Some time in the weight room will do him good. He's still growing so I'm sure the sky is the limit. I do believe he could be elite with the right coaching and weight training, but has a ways to go.

Yep and let me again say that I'd love to add him but "elite" is a word that should be used sparingly.

This probably isn't particularly important with football recruitment, more of an interesting tidbit. There are major Dunne - ND connections. Years ago, Notre Dame started a very prolific/important program for Catholic school teachers and administrators called ACE, which is a huge force in the modern movement to save/improve Catholic schools in America. You can think of it kind of like Catholic Teacher for America (Alliance for Catholic Education // University of Notre Dame) Dunne is the high school in Dallas that ND sends ACE teachers to. I would guess there are about 10 teachers or administrators at Dunne that have degrees from Notre Dame.

This is really interesting. I didn't know the details of this program, but it turns out one of my HS friend's father holds a leadership position with ACE. I knew he worked at ND, and was responsible for something like this, but I wasn't sure exactly what he did. I've looked at the site a bit and would be interested in seeing if there are more recruiting connections between schools and recruiting targets (past and present) when I have more time.

Darrion would definitely be a quality add but he's not an elite DT. He's a good to very good prospect but elite is a different category. Elite to me implies instant impact regardless of depth at position.

So what would you have considered Nix?

Nix is possibly a top 15 NFL draft pick. That's elite. In 3 years he showed he was at minimum disruptive, at times dominant at his position.

Someone who is a standout on most any D-1 teams will get you drafted, but you rarely are a 1st round pick without truly elite level D-1 play.

Obviously Nix is elite now, but Irishnuke was asking what Lucky thought of Lou out of HS since Nix and Darrion Daniels are ranked similarly by recruiting sites.

Nix had huge potential which he realized but Nix wasn't an elite prospect, IMO. He was in terrible shape when coming to South Bend and wasn't close to ready to contribute. That's fine we should take guys that are projects that have high ceilings. We are talking about the prospect right now, not in 2, 5, or 10 years. Again, my opinion of an elite prospect is from Day 1 can they contribute at a position, not just ST. You have to draw the line somewhere for what elite means.

Let's just say he has the possibility to be elite if he has the mindset to do what it takes.

Scout: an article a couple weeks ago had all schools the same with no one standing out but he did had a great visit to Texas last weekend. He plans to take as many visits as he can. Loves cold weather and distance doesn't really matter.

I'm from Wisconsin and my hometown was just named the coldest place in America on CNN, and 60 degrees in the house is incredibly cold. We keep ours at 68, and keep in mind, it was above 0 for the first time in a week today and kids wore shorts to school. It maxed out at 20 degrees today...

Don't take this as me bullying you, but I'm pretty sure it's inaccurate to name a place in WI as the coldest in America.

You guys are killing Coonja right now. This one he doesn't really deserve. He never said that it was one of the coldest in America… he just pointed out that CNN did.

Take it up with the eye-candy, not me! Nuke, you may be right overall, but this is about the 2013-2014 winter.

Oh I know. He was just saying what CNN reported.

Me, I waited to post. I am enjoying the fact that one guy said his home town was the coldest town in America (right now, as in through this current stretch of abysmal weather), and another guy says it is not the coldest town historically, here is my proof, and people are all excited to see a fight over the conflict.
