Most decorated individual player in the history of college football, finished second in Heisman voting. Only linebacker in the era to win Maxwell award.
More TALENTED linebackers? Sure. BETTER linebackers? Absolutely not. Put together the best line backing season in the BCS era and it's not even close. 7 INTs + 2 fumble recoveries = 9 turnovers. By far the most of any linebacker.

Definitely agree on all accounts. Like you said he's the most decorated CFB player EVER. How do you even argue against that. So many of these looking back teams take some level of current status into them.

Agreed. As much as I loved Manti, he had ONE great season. If we are talking about the best LBs of the last SIXTEEN years? No, Manti is not one of the best LBs of the last sixteen years.
Did he have possibly the best season by a LB in the last sixteen years, yes. Was his body of work over FOUR years among the best in the last sixteen years? Highly debatable.

You're going to tell me the guy who won more individual accolades than any player ever and finished 2nd in Heisman voting didn't have a better career than Patrick Willis? Are you serious? Name me one accomplishment Willis had that Manti didn't.
Willis 2x AP All-American - 2nd team as junior, 1st team as senior.
Te'o 2x AP All-American - 2nd team as junior, 1st team as senior (also made a non-AP all-American team as a sophomore).
Willis won: Butkus.
Te'o won: Butkus, Lott, Bednarik, Nagurski, Maxwell, Lombardi, and Walter Camp. If you're counting, that's 2 national player of the year awards and the defensive player of the year. Willis never won even the defensive player of the year. And I believe Te'o is the only defense-only player in the BCS era to win player of the year awards (but I might be wrong on that, at worst he's one of a select few).
There is no objective case to be made that Willis > Te'o in college. None. If you listed one guy as Player A and one guy as Player B and compared resumes, Te'o wins every time in a landslide. Patrick Willis over Te'o is beyond a joke.

If the team is for career during the BCS, yes.
If it's for actual BCS Game play, no. The NCG was possibly his poorest career performance. He played like a freshman.
Probably so. Howard was the last receiver 7 or 8 years earlier.

The Leinart spiel is a load also.
I'm no Tebow fan, but looking back objectively, the top two BCS quarterbacks were Tebow and then Young. They narrowly edge out Clausen obviously.
But like one poster said in the comments, the ESPN argument for Leinart actually works against him more than for him and proves that Tebow should have been the QB on this list.
What makes me mad about the whole Te'o thing is that ESPN seems to try to back their arguments by presenting stats and awards. If that were the case and ESPN were in any way consistent and unbiased (we know they aren't, but just imagine momentarily), they would have HAD to put Te'o on the list.

I would have to disagree on the kicker as well. This is only if we are basing it on only their college careers. I would also not agree with GDomer09 and have to say Alex Henery from Nebraska was the best kicker of the BCS era.

PATRICK PLAYED AT OLE MISS and had NO scholarship offers from any big time schools and he still went on to be recognized as an All American at OLE MISS, under Ed Orgeron of all people!!.
And you are splitting hairs, honestly.
I love Manti but he was NOT elite as a LB for FOUR STRAIGHT YEARS. He wasn't.
Willis was the best LB in the SEC by a wide margin for two solid years, if not three....and he just happens to be the best LB in the NFL, too, by the way.
If you just compare their numbers ALONE, without any postseason honors, then there is literally no way anyone can say that Willis was not equal to or better than Manti. And the list is SUBJECTIVE anyway, based on one man's opinions, but there really is no way that Manti would get on that list with all the extra stuff that is still attached to his name, to this day.
Sorry, but that list is pretty damn legit if you are being objective.
