I'd take Sandy Koufax over Pedro any day and I'm a Yankee fan. Probably Bob Gibson and Whitey Ford as well.

As a side note. My choice was from my lifetime only. I'm 33.

Whenever I see this thread title, "Ken Gurnick HOF Voter," I can't help but think Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute.

That is all. Carry on.

Both also in my top-5 options for a one game deal, no doubt.

Kofax was wicked. The fingers on his left hand were about 3/8" to 1/2" longer than his right hand. He said it was from all the stretching and gripping of the ball when he wasn't pitching. The ball looked very small in his hand. Too bad he hung it up early.

If you juge a guy by his peak I have him as the greatest ever in the game of baseball... period.

Now if youjudge it by the entire career??? That ceratinly changes so it depends on view I guess. Mantle would move up or down that list also depending on how you define it imo...

Two things for both Maddux and Pedro though, they did it while everything was geared to help the offense and most everyone was juiced...

Yup! I didn't throw that into "big games" because people would be like "it's an all star game," which that's fine. But the feel of that game was HUGE. Hard to express how electric the atmosphere in the park that night, pitching at home with Teddy Ballgame in the house. That performance - against those guys - was nothing short of brilliant.

Were you there? If so, I'm insanely jealous. That game was actually on my 10th birthday and it's probably one of my first real "sports fan" memories watching the introduction of the all-century team. If I remember correctly, Kevin Costner did a great intro to the broadcast on FOX.

Totally. Beyond the PEDs and the ballparks, the height of the mound certainly mattered as well.

I was. Also at the Home Run Derby when McGwire and Griff put on a freaking show. One of my best moments in that ballpark, maybe only behind Game 4 of the '04 ALCS. Would have put this year's WS clincher on there, but I was in Thailand on my honeymoon. If I was in town I would have been there.

Ted Williams would clearly be the greatest ever if he hadn't gone to war (twice). Which, in my mind, makes him even greater.

But he never won a championship… or does that only work when arguing FOR players from New England??

;)

I only used that argument against Peyton Manning, until he actually won.

But I still hate his stupid face.
