Causey along with 2015 RB Jordan Scarlett, 2016 WR Sam Bruce and 2015 DT Brandon Boyce are all transferring from University a School to either Heritage or Aquinas, most likely Aquinas per 247

That is sketchy right there. A whole host of talented prospects picking up and moving together... Maybe it is because of where I am from, Southern Indiana, but that is looked upon negatively around there. Reeks of improper benefits, recruiting, or some kind of violation by the "receiving school."

Reminds me of the show Friday Night Lights when they tried using fake addresses to fit into a certain school district.

Welcome to life in the big city bro. When I lived in SoCal, I coached high school basketball and had a few really successful seasons, on the backs of players I was lucky enough to have come to my school. But h.s. basketball, even on the girls' side, became such a cesspool with everyone trying to outrecruit each other that I had to get out. And I was happy that I did. There was no way in hell I was spending my weekends at middle school AAU tourneys, and you would never see me at 13 year-old's house, begging their parents to let them play basketball at my school, which is what my coaching friends were doing. It's gotten even worse since I quit (6 yrs ago).

I work at a middle school in a small town about 30 mins from South Bend. It's so refreshing to know that the kids I coach in 7th grade will be the stars of the local high school in a few years. They play with each other since like the 4th grade. It's awesome, and it gives us a real sense of community that I didn't feel back home in Los Angeles.

Now, there is still some recruiting out here in Indiana, but it's nowhere near what it's like in bigger cities, or in places like FL and TX et al. Not even close.

Just to piggyback on this a little. I have no personal experience but I do have a co-worker who just two weeks ago was explaining to me how his 8 and 10 year olds have been getting recruited for soccer. He gets emails on a weekly basis from different coaches in the area and they ask to sit down so they can explain why there team is the best fit. Its recruiting just on a weirder level. I won't get into all the specifics but I had no idea that goes on.

Difference is that, if it's AMERICAN Heritage, both are private schools, which have no district limits. If the family is willing to pay the tuition (or they receive a scholarship), they can go there.

public vs parochial (I assume) - not the same thing at all

EDIT: Just saw NDSean's post

I think this is different from state to state. I transferred from one private school to another after my Soph. year in HS. The IHSAA required documentation I had moved from the east to south side of town before I was eligible to play my Junior season.

After my sister won her state title in track she would get Facebook messages from coaches. Shit can get pretty sketchy in a hurry.

If they all end up at St. Thomas Aquinas that's a couple high 3:s:/ low 4:s: 2015 guys in Boyce and Causey, Devante Peete is already there and a solid 4:s: WR for 2015, Scarlett is a solid 4:s: 2015. Nick Bosa is gonna be one of the top 2016 kids and is already there (and a OSU lock, supposed to be better than his brother) and Bruce will be also be one of the top 2016 kids. Plus others in the 2015 and 2016 class have interest from top schools.

Wowzers.

American Heritage Boca/Delray(Palm Beach) or Plantation(Broward)? This transfer business is a way of life in south Florida. And, it is happening, not only in private schools such as Aquinas and Heritage, but also public schools such as Dwyer{Palm Beach}. University, by the why, is a private school associated with Nova University. Quarterback Sean White(Auburn) and defensive end Richard Yeargin (Notre Dame) switched schools to attend University for their senior year. There are more Division 1 prospects in three counties of south Florida(Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach) than anywhere on the face of the earth. The athletes and their families know this, and they have the system dancing to their music!

I have a good friend that's a Head Coach at a prominent HS in the Miami area and to listen to him explain it, it's the wild west in southern FL. I've heard of shady recruiting business in other parts of the US, but I think it's the most rampant in Miami/FL. Tough break for University School. I'm sure they'll pull in a few recruits of their own before next season.

Jordan Scarlett one of the top backs in the country for next year, if not the top. Committed to FAU

That would be Roger Harriott, and the juniors switching schools now makes sense. Mike Rumph, American Heritage(Plantation), will be another heading to a college coaching job.

So apparently a lot of the offers this kid reported (or his school reported for him) were not legit, including ND. ND did show some initial interest, but an offer was never actually extended per Loy and Luke Stampini of 24/7. Clemson, Michigan, Tennessee, Miami, South Carolina and Kentucky are some of the others offers that were reported for him that weren't legit.

Stampini thinks FAU was basically his only legit offer. Interesting.

Not all "offers" are created equal
