The three things that scare me about next year:
1) losing Martin and Watt. I know the OL has a very bright future, but I still think the unit takes a big step back next year without their experience.
2) D line. If Tuitt leaves this defense is in trouble.
3) ILB. no explanation needed.

No matter how you feel about them, losing Anzalone and Vanderdoes was devastating.

1) I guess I'm the only one who thinks the line will be BETTER next year then? As much as I liked Martin and Watt, moving Elmer to LT is HUGE! Literally. Not to mention all the guards that can replace Watt. ND's line will be fine.

2) Barring injuries, the d-line should be good as well. Having Hounshell and Springmann back are important. I doubt Tuitt leaves early, but there are plenty of players ready to take the reins.

3) Could be worse. It could be this year's ILB situation. Having more athletic ILB is the biggest thing. Guys like Deeb, Grace, Randolph and newcomers like Martini and probably Nyles Morgan will add a jolt that this position didn't have this year.

Yeah, I'll be Anzalone is really regretting his decision now, and Vanderdoesn't is probably in a similar boat after getting smoked by ASU.

82) ILB: ______________ (Morgan, Skykes, [Hill])

Open
83) S/Best available: ________________ (Smith, Hendrix, Luatua)

Are you counting Lombard and most likely Hendrix? Lombard will be the 1st 5th year asked back, cannot forget him.

BK was on the College Football Playbook on XM91 with Jack Arute today. Said two things that I found interesting as it pertains to this year's class.

He responded to Arute's question in regards to this years class stating that we are currently at 20 of 24.

If BK is counting 20 then that means he's counting Isaiah McKenzie.

Unless he's trying to mislead someone for some reason. At this point the target for this class is 24.

24 just doesn't sound right (low) looking at the board and 5th year candidates and potential transfers/medical hardships.

I suppose he could've thrown out 24 since he knew that would be the minimum number, knowing that it could increase after the other stuff shakes out.

27-30'is the sweet spot this year folks....keep them comin...

Anything more than 27 and we'd be oversigning.

We only have 2 EEs this year in Brent and Trumbetti, and they would count towards last years class.

Also, if we go 25 max (after EEs) then there will be no room for EEs next recruiting class.

BK says 24, then there will be 24.

I think Kizer is an EE as well isn't he? There might be someone else as well.

EE don't matter it's 85. And after the fallout of transfers and medicals it's 85 or bust! Over sign>undersign

Actually, when it comes to the rules and possible sanctions: undersign > oversign

24 is the number I was thinking as well. Lets hope we get the right recruits to fill those 4-5 spots. We are still in the running for about 10 recruits...

Your right the NCAA has really made an example out of those bcs teams that over sign every year.:)

Alex Welch and Love Wood are transferring, Nix is going pro so that's three new open spots.

Three spots that we knew that were already going to be open.

I still see Alex and Lo under the potential 5 the year list so that's why I mentioned them. I figured Nix leaving was accounted for but we just got the official news about Nix planning on getting an agent.

Sykes makes 79, Luatua 80, Tuitt 81

Leaves 4 spots for recruits + Moore, Collinsworth IMO (assuming no attrition which is unlikely)

aaaand make that Sykes 79, Hill 80, Luatua 81, Tuitt 82

3 spots left for 5th years (Moore and Collinsworth) + recruits (Quick, McKenzie/Nelson, Elam, Morgan, Hendrix, Juju) assuming no attrition.

Is there any chance that we don't take any 5th years? There is a very real chance that at least 3 of the aforementioned kids want in.

Unless we have some really bad luck, I cant see how Kendall Moore is on this team next year. Collinsworth can also be in jeopardy.

There might also be some flexibility with Schmidt's scholarship, right? Though, I think he has earned it and hope the staff doesn't pull it regardless of the numbers crunch.

Seems like the only lock for a 5th year in Christian Lombard. He's a 20 game starter and you don't turn down 20 game starter unless they come back from 'Nam with like half a head or something..

Which means 2 spots assuming Tuitt comes back, not including IM. Yeesh...

3. Lombard was included in Domina Nostra's count as a lock for a 5th year. Right now between commits and players we are at 82 assuming Luatua tommorow, Lombard gets a 5th, and Tuitt returns if my math is correct.

Ok ok, I'm feeling that. Love the position this program is in heading into next year. And Golson to boot! Total swing of the karma pendulum in 2014!

This is where I have us at. Am I missing anyone? This is assuming Lombard is a 5th year senior and Tuitt comes back:
