No interest in the Orange Bowl at all. All the other BCS games look good as heck.

The Alamo Bowl between Texas and Oregon would be good if the Texas players didn't give up on the year because they are selfish tools.

The San Francisco Bowl will be good with BYU-Washington.

Wisconsin-South Carolina will be a good Citrus Bowl.

Cotton Bowl might be my favorite of the season: Missouri vs. Oklahoma State. Nice.

Yay political coaches poll.... what a joke that thing is.

Tend to agree in general, but in this case only 3 coaches put ND in the top 25 other than Kelly -- Art Briles, the Rutgers coach and the So. Alabama coach. (You would think Dantonio would too...) So in this case it doesn't seem as political as much as it is a consensus.

LOVE that cotton bowl game. Especially with all the tradition that comes with it.

I don't know! I know MSU's defense is better than Clemsons but I think they may have shown a way to stop Braxton. Stuff the middle of the field. Plus when they go empty back field everyone knows it's gonna be a QB scramble!

Not even close to being that simple.

USC rocking the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. Hope Fresno St. smacks them around.

No, that's exactly proof that it is political. ND at the bottom end of the top 25, so when coaches come through to vote their teams in from their conference they bump out the teams on the back end. So ND basically by default gets dropped out on every ballot from every major conference coach. But the other teams get the benefit of up votes from their conference mates.

The bottom line is that by having people with a vested interest in the rankings casting the votes you end up with tit-for-tat style voting where everything evens out... except for Notre Dame because we're independent.

How else could you possibly explain dropping 8 spots on the final ballot despite not playing and having a team we beat improve to 12-1 and #4 in the country?

Updated the first post to include games, dates, TV, etc.

Btw, whatever happened to the Humanitarian Bowl? I always thought they should have had Mother Teresa do the coin flip.

To assist you in your bowl watching enjoyment (and in making your pool pix), I am attaching a link to Football Madness, which provides capsule summaries of each bowl team, along with stats, etc.

Football Bowl Central | College Sports Madness

Here is the ND capsule. It fails to mention Nix, so proceed with caution. It also notes that Tommy "had his fair share of ups and downs," which is like Noah saying, "It looks like rain." Anyway, fwiw:

The Fighting Irish could not quite keep up with their impressive 2012 campaign, but an 8-4 season is not bad for an offense that had a lot of rebuilding to do. In fact, Notre Dame was in the game against Michigan, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh and Stanford. Only the Pitt game was a bad loss.

2013 Record: 8-4
Coach: Brian Kelly
Coach Bowl Record: 3-3

Big Wins: 9/21 Michigan State (17-13), 10/5 Arizona State (37-34)
Bad Losses: 9/28 Oklahoma (35-21), 11/9 at Pittsburgh (28-21)

Strengths:
Once again, the Irish won games with their defense. Linebacker Prince Shembo and end Stephon Tuitt are consistent fixtures in the opposing backfield, but nobody else on the team tallied more than one sack this season. Even with just 1.33 sacks per game, the Notre Dame secondary did a superb job allowing about 200 yards per game through the air. The interceptions are not going to come in bunches, but this is a team that can keep potent passing offenses under control. Meanwhile, inside linebackers Dan Fox and Carlo Calabrese spearhead the rush defense. Fox totaled a team high 90 tackles on the year and Calabrese was right behind him with 84.

Weaknesses:
Quarterback Tommy Rees has had his fair share of ups and downs in 2013. The year started strong enough. He threw for over 300 yards in each of his first three games. Things went downhill from there. Against Oklahoma he completed just 9-of-24 passes and threw three interceptions. Wide receiver TJ Jones is Rees’ favorite target and DaVaris Daniels had a great junior year. Add tight end Troy Niklas into the mix and Rees has three proven targets who can make things happen if Rees can get them the ball. The rushing offense has had a few more setbacks than the passing game. The team as a whole rushed for just ten touchdowns in a dozen games. Cam McDaniel emerged as the workhorse, but he averages just 4.6 yards per carry. George Atkinson and Tarean Folston are decent change of pace backs who can bust the occasional big run, but there is a long way to go and very little time to improve.

Statistical Leaders:
Rushing: Cam McDaniel, RB, 659 yards
Passing: Tommy Rees, QB, 2,938 yards
Receiving: T.J. Jones, WR, 1,042 yards
Tackles: Dan Fox, LB, 90
Sacks: Stephon Tuitt, DE, 6.0
Interceptions: Bennett Jackson, CB, 2; Matthias Farley, S, 2; Austin Collinsworth, S, 2

2013 Team Stats:
Rushing Offense: 149.3 (80th in nation, 4th of independents)
Passing Offense: 249.5 (47, 1)
Total Offense: 398.8 (75, 4)
Scoring Offense: 27.1 (76, 3)
Rushing Defense: 175.3 (75, 2)
Pass Defense: 201.7 (17, 1)
Total Defense: 377.0 (45, 1)
Scoring Defense: 22.9 (36, 2)
Turnover Margin: -0.3 (77, 4)
Sacks: 1.33 (105, 4)
Sacks Allowed: 0.67 (2, 1)

Fail to see how losing to a top team (OU) is a bad loss. Think scUM is a far worse loss.

I guess because turnovers hurt so much that game. But yeah, I consider all three bad losses; Stanford was a "good" loss, if there is such a thing, considering the circumstances of injuries, playing a very good team, at their place. I hate to sound apologetic, but that was a moral victory.

You may be right, but I wanted to see the Oregon speed against the SEC. Oregon-Texas, if that's what we get, doesn't do much for me.

Been there, done that, but Oregon lost to Auburn....and would have lost just as badly as we did against Bama, considering the fact that Nick will have them properly riled up and ready for Oregon after a month of solid prep.

PLUS, no Chip Kelly, either. That would have been a heckuva chess match.

I know I am likely crazy, but just love bowl season. I love all these damn games and how excited these kids get. Other than the ND game and the big bowls around New Year's, I won't miss a family party or Christmas bash to watch them, but I will definitely watch them if I'm around or can be around a set.

I think So Cal was so humiliated losing the Sun Bowl last year that they have a chip on their shoulder. That was a shameful performance.
